I Got a Job as the Demon King's Toy - Chapter 83
“Should we wake her?”
“Leave her be. It might be better for her to stay unconscious until we reach a safe place.”
The two men looked down at Bonita, who was resting against the base of a large tree, her face pale.
The robed wizard, Raul, glanced around nervously before speaking.
“Did we make a mistake, Mikhail?”
“What are you talking about, Raul? The woman really was locked in the Demon King’s bedroom, and she was even under an invisibility spell.”
“But she wasn’t tied up, and the door was open. If she had truly been captured, she would have escaped by now. And that invisibility spell—it seemed more like it was protecting her, not imprisoning her.”
The man in black, Mikhail, patted Raul’s shoulder.
“You’re getting soft again. Think about it—what woman would be happy being held by the Demon King?”
“Well, that’s true, but…”
“Whether the Demon King kidnapped and imprisoned her or not, we’ve already rescued this woman. Now we just wait for our side to finish the job and come back. Be ready to run if things go south.”
Raul nodded.
Not long after they began waiting, a blue speck appeared in the sky. Kaplites descended, setting Lucas and Sophitia down on the ground before reverting to his human form.
“Lucas!”
Seeing Lucas’s bloodied forehead and both hands severely burned, Raul rushed over in alarm. The moment they touched down, Sophitia immediately began healing him.
“What about Jorge?”
At Mikhail’s urgent question, Lucas shook his head with a pained expression. The group’s faces darkened.
“He was so confident, yet it was a complete disaster.”
Kaplites smirked as he glanced around at them, his gaze soon falling on the unconscious Bonita.
“But it seems Plan B succeeded at least.”
“You’re not keeping your promise!”
Lucas shouted in anger. He looked ready to pounce, but his hands were still being treated, so he held back.
“You abandoned Jorge and ran away. And don’t think I didn’t notice you only pretending to fight. And now you’re blaming us?”
“Abandoned him? That fool sacrificed himself to save you. And my promise only extended to bringing you before the Demon King.”
“You said you wanted revenge!”
“Wanting something and doing it are two different things, aren’t they?”
Kaplites grinned slyly.
“I kept my promise. Thanks to me, you got your chance to face the Demon King without interference. The fact that you couldn’t take him down? That’s on you. Now, I’ll be off. Good luck with the princess.”
Lucas glared at him, but Kaplites calmly shifted back into his dragon form and flew off beyond the sky.
“Coward…”
Grinding his teeth, Lucas felt Mikhail pat his shoulder.
“There’s no helping it. We need to move on to the next plan before the trackers catch up.”
Lucas nodded solemnly, his face grim.

“Ugh…”
Bonita groaned softly as she opened her eyes. A woman dressed in sacred robes was looking down at her.
“You’ve woken up.”
The unfamiliar voice snapped her to full alertness. Bonita startled and quickly sat up.
She looked around and realized she was in what appeared to be an inn room. There were two beds, and a blond man was perched on the opposite bed. The men who had broken into Teshiel’s bedroom sat at a table nearby. Recognizing them sent a chill down her spine, and she wrapped her arms tightly around herself.
“Wh-who are you? Where am I?”
“We are—”
“Shh, hold on.”
The robed man interrupted, stretching out his hand to stop the blond man from speaking. He stood and approached Bonita, speaking in a gentle tone. It was a foreign language.
「Don’t worry. We rescued you from the Demon King.」
Bonita blinked, unsure how to react, squeezing her arms tighter around herself. She couldn’t understand the words. The man watched her reaction and then continued speaking, this time in another foreign language.
「This man here is the Emperor’s son. He will ensure you are safely returned to your homeland.」
“I… I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
「Which country are you from? We can take you wherever you need to go.」
“Can’t you speak the common language of the continent?”
Raul, who had been testing her with a few foreign languages, shook his head as he looked back at Lucas. With a sigh, Lucas finally spoke in a language Bonita could understand.
“We just risked our lives to rescue you from the Demon King. Which country are you from? We can take you back.”
“Rescue…? Risked your lives?”
