I Got a Job as the Demon King's Toy - Chapter 84
Bonita was utterly confused by what they were saying.
“There must be some misunderstanding… I’m from this country. What do you mean you rescued me from the Demon King? I’m just a maid.”
“A… maid?”
Lucas’s eyebrows twitched, and the mood in the room suddenly grew tense. Bonita realized something was very wrong. Instinctively, she felt that revealing any special connection to the Demon King would be dangerous. She chose her words carefully.
“Yes, I’m a maid who serves tea. I, uh, saw a job posting, went for an interview, and got hired… It’s only been a few months, but I’m well compensated.”
Her thoughts immediately turned to Teshiel. What had happened to him? When they said they had “rescued” her, had they hurt Teshiel and taken her away? Her heart sank. But it was best not to show it. If they claimed to have rescued her from the Demon King, they must be his enemies. Bonita held back the tears that threatened to well up.
“I don’t know what’s going on, but could you send me back? I need to work to pay off a debt…”
She couldn’t help the slight tremor in her voice, praying that she simply seemed scared. Lucas, who had been staring at her intensely, pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Ha, what the f*ck.”
As Lucas suddenly spat out a curse, Bonita flinched, her shoulders trembling.
“We lost Jorge, and all we brought back was a maid?”
“It could be a swap.”
Mikhail, who had been sitting with his legs crossed, finally spoke up.
“They must’ve hidden the real princess and swapped her out with a maid.”
Mikhail stood up and walked toward Bonita.
“Hey, am I right? Is there a princess who was really kidnapped by the Demon King? Just tell the truth, and I’ll let you live.”
“T-That…”
Bonita swallowed hard. Mikhail’s threatening tone, combined with the large scar running across his cheek, which twitched menacingly, made her want to nod out of fear. But she knew it would be a lie they would quickly see through. In the end, she shook her head.
“…I’ve never heard of that. Are you saying the Demon King kidnapped some princess? I… I’ve never heard anything like that. I’ve never seen anyone like a princess.”
Mikhail frowned. Raul, who had been holding his hands out and staring intently at Bonita, sighed.
“She’s not lying.”
“A maid…”
Lucas muttered as he stood up, the sound of his clenched fists cracking audibly. With two large men now standing by the bed, Bonita was completely overshadowed by their presence.
“We went through all this hell, and all we brought back is a maid?!”
“Eek!”
Lucas reached out and grabbed Bonita by the collar, yanking her toward him. The force caused a couple of buttons to snap off, revealing the bare skin of her neck and collarbone.
“Ha! Look at this.”
Bonita frantically tried to cover her neck with her hands, but Lucas swiftly grabbed her wrist and yanked it away. The skin exposed inside her collar bore the clear marks of the intense encounters she’d had over the past week.
“Where did you find her? Next to the Demon King’s bedroom, right?”
Lucas’s lips curled into a smirk.
“She doesn’t seem like just a maid. Be honest, you’re not just a maid, are you?”
“I-I’m just a maid serving tea… Ah!”
Lucas seized Bonita’s neck and slammed her down onto the bed. As she gasped, half-choked, and struggled, he pressed one of his knees onto her thigh to pin her in place. His mocking face loomed close to hers, tears welling in her eyes.
“You spent a whole week in the Demon King’s bedroom, but you’re just a maid? Then who do you think left all these lovely marks on you?”
“L-let me go…”
“If you really are just a maid, then it wouldn’t matter what I do to you, would it? No one cares what happens to a mere maid.”
