I Got a Job as the Demon King's Toy - Chapter 99
Bonita’s face lit up with joy, and Teshiel’s furrowed brow relaxed. Sophitia, however, continued in a dry tone.
“It was likely too early to detect back then. Even with divine power, it’s impossible to confirm pregnancy in its earliest stages. It takes time for it to become apparent. You can call upon another priest if you’d like a second confirmation.”
“Bonita!”
Without caring who was watching, Teshiel pulled Bonita into his arms and kissed her passionately. Now, they could truly be together for the rest of their lives. For Teshiel, the role of their future child was clear: to protect Bonita from the capricious whims of the twenty-nine gods and the curses of the thirteen demon lords. As the baby grew inside her, Bonita would gradually develop a resistance to magical energy.
By the time she turned twenty-one, she would be able to stay by Teshiel’s side without her lifespan being shortened, and Teshiel could also continue to lessen the burden of staying in the human realm through her presence.
Before the kiss became too intense, Bonita gently pushed against his chest. Her face was streaked with tears, and seeing her like that, Teshiel’s lips curled into a small smile.
“We should celebrate… just the two of us.”
“Eek!”
With a playful grin, Teshiel lifted Bonita in his arms and stood. He glanced over at Rento and said,
“Spare her life. Banish her from the castle.”
“Understood.”
“And bring another priest.”
Leaving the expressionless Sophitia behind, Teshiel carried Bonita back to their bedroom.
* * *
Bonita did not want to ascend to the throne, and since Teshiel had little interest in the empire if it wasn’t for Bonita, the empire returned to the hands of humans. However, it was not returned entirely. The emperor was dethroned due to Lucas’ crime of recklessly invading the Demon King’s castle, and the crown prince succeeded the throne. The new emperor, who ascended by the hands of the Demon King, had to report and seek permission from him whenever making significant decisions. Such a country could not last long, and a few years later, the empire was split into three due to rebellions from various regions, but that is a story for another time.
Only after returning to the Demon King’s castle did Bonita learn of the things Teshiel had done to reclaim her. She also found out that she was being called the Angel of Death.
However, by then, she had already resolved to live as the wife of not just any demon but the Demon King. Holding back her tears, she walked around the Demon King’s castle before making judgments based on human perspectives.
There were many demons who had stayed in the human realm instead of returning to the demon realm, and they all treated Bonita with great respect, answering anything she asked. None of them thought that what Teshiel did was wrong or excessive. In fact, there were quite a few who thought he had been too lenient.
“He warned them in advance to flee, and he let those who ran go. He showed incredible mercy because they were humans like you, Lady Bonita. By the end, every city was practically empty before we even arrived.”
Rento, whom she visited last, said this with a bitter smile.
“How about thinking of it this way? Demons are a little more honest with their instincts compared to humans. In a good way, you could say they lack hypocrisy.”
In other words, they simply repaid what was done to them. After talking with all the demons in the castle, Bonita decided to accept some of their ways of thinking. And, hardening her resolve, she repeated to herself,
‘Angel of Death, what a fitting nickname for the wife of the Demon King.’
However, that did not mean Bonita was no longer human. So, she decided to wear black clothing and a veil to show her mourning until the child was born. Her appearance, wandering the Demon King’s castle in black, only reinforced her nickname.
Teshiel respected Bonita’s thoughts. He even allowed her to wear the black clothing that covered every inch of her skin. This was a huge concession because Teshiel rarely allowed her to wear proper clothing, and even when she did, it soon became far from intact.
That didn’t mean he left her untouched—of course not. He needed to feed on Bonita’s pleasure to endure in the human realm. Teshiel brought her to the brink of ecstasy every day, inhaling her fragrance. Yet, he never went as far as to penetrate her. He knew too well the size and destructive power of his manhood. It was difficult, but he planned to endure this way until the day she gave birth.
After several months, Bonita safely entered the stable phase of her pregnancy. At that point, Teshiel said there was something he had to do and left for four days. Even when Bonita asked what it was and where he was going, he simply smiled without answering and left. It was only after he returned that he told her the reason for his departure.
“I went to meet Kaplites.”
“The dragon?”
The color drained from Bonita’s face. By now, she knew too. She knew that Kaplites had attacked the Demon King’s castle under Lucas’ orders, and that after failing to kill Teshiel, he had abandoned Lucas and the others and fled alone.
