I Just Wanted to Avoid Death - Chapter 4
Leaving those words behind, Eldis flicked Yeshion’s shoulder and walked past him.
But regardless, Yeshion’s mood soared.
‘It’s regrettable that he didn’t kick me out of the temple, but still, I didn’t die. I survived!’
Finally!
After 18 cycles, he was finally able to leave this accursed garden.
Unable to hide his joy, Yeshion walked towards the underground dungeon, ready to carry out the punishment Eldis had spoken of. Just in case they found something to criticize.
Yeshion’s steps toward the underground dungeon were infinitely light, as if he were off to a picnic. Even the temple, more magnificent and beautiful than what he had read in the novel, made him feel as if he were touring a cultural heritage site.
While strolling leisurely, Yeshion suddenly realized a beat too late that he didn’t know the way. He was too delighted about not having died to have thought about it.
‘Where is the underground dungeon?’
Since possessing the body, he had only been dying in the garden, so there was no way he knew the path.
“Excuse me.”
Yeshion grabbed a passing priest.
It was at that moment.
“…Eek!”
The priest, grabbed by Yeshion, wore a look of horror and ran away after repeatedly apologizing.
“That’s what I told you. You shouldn’t pass by Priest Yeshion!”
“I- thought he looked happy, he wouldn’t talk to me…!”
“….”
Yeshion stood with his mouth agape.
This guy… what kind of behavior has he been exhibiting usually?
Looking around, everyone nearby was watching Yeshion. Not with interest, but with wary eyes.
‘Those looks…’
Some even harbored disgust, beyond mere sharpness.
Yeshion, who had been feeling light-hearted, subdued his mood and subtly checked the surroundings.
‘Yeshion’ was a villain, so he somewhat understood why the priests looked at him with such eyes. The ‘Yeshion’ described in the novel was indeed the epitome of a villain.
However, separate from that, as Yeshion, he still needed to find the dungeon to carry out the punishment Eldis had imposed.
If he couldn’t find the dungeon and failed to execute the punishment, they might use “disobedience of orders” as an excuse to draw their swords again.
After pondering, Yeshion finally raised his hand high on the spot. The priests watching him flinched visibly.
“I want to go to the underground prison, could someone show me the way?”
At times like this, there’s only one thing you need:
Shamelessness.
‘Yeshion’ is a priest with a nasty temper. Rude and without manners. If such a person acts this way, those around him will surely react. If they don’t react, who knows what atrocity Yeshion might commit next.
“I, I will guide you.”
Sure enough, a boy hesitantly approached. He looked to be about ten years old. More a cleaner in the temple than a priest.
The priests shook their heads and clucked their tongues as they watched the boy step forward.
“Good grief…”
“Shouldn’t someone stop him? What if he hits the kid!”
But contrary to their worries, Yeshion bent his legs to meet the boy’s gaze and even flashed a gentle smile.
“Then, I’ll ask for your help.”
Even words he hadn’t anticipated came out of his mouth. The priests nearby looked at Yeshion with faces filled with astonishment.
A child, not even a priest, approached him and he didn’t lay a hand on him! Moreover, the word ‘help’ came out of Yeshion’s mouth!
“What is he up to now…”
Yeshion followed the boy, ignoring the priests’ murmurs.
The boy’s pace was slower than expected. If it had been the real ‘Yeshion,’ he might have kicked him to move faster, but he had no such intention.
“This way… this way is where you need to go.”
The underground dungeon they arrived at was more dismal than expected.
While it wasn’t a typical place, the very act of entering an underground dungeon was exceedingly rare. It was where those who committed blasphemy or broke the temple’s laws received their punishment.
So, it was mostly a place where someone like ‘Yeshion’ would be confined.
Descending the stairs, Yeshion surveyed the inside of the dungeon. The scene was more gruesome than he had imagined. In one room, torture devices were arrayed, and in another, the floor was stained with blood.
‘That’s…’
Yeshion covered his eyes as he looked at the catheter. As if it wasn’t enough to be in an R-rated dark novel. To think they’d use such a thing as a torture device…
Chilled to the bone, Yeshion shivered and forced himself to look away.
“I can’t see any cleaning supplies, do you know where they might be?”
“That, that… I should have brought them…”
“Oh, really? Where are they?”
“Upstairs, in the bathroom.”
After answering, the boy tightly closed his eyes.
However, Yeshion just walked past the boy, stepping on the stairs to head back the way he had come.
“Why are you standing there?”
“…Ah. Uh, yes?”
“Where’s the bathroom?”
