I Just Wanted to Avoid Death - Chapter 6
So I thought Yeshion must be pretty, but his appearance was more beautiful than imagined.
His flawless, pale skin and pure face gave a delicate impression, and a slight smile could even give the illusion of holiness.
“Is it not a waste for society to have someone with such a face to die early…?”
If he had been born in the modern world, they would have tried to preserve him as a national treasure. Yeshion murmured as he touched his face.
“No, I must live. I can survive.”
National treasure or not, you could do anything, as long as you live. From now on, he had to act properly.
Reducing the caution Eldis had towards Yeshion as much as possible and safely escaping from the temple was the goal he had to set.
“Right, I can’t just die like this. Don’t give up.”
With his mind made up, Yeshion muttered a resolution, picked up the cleaning supplies, and left the bathroom.
Not long after, rumors spread throughout the temple.
That Yeshion had been praising his own face in front of a mirror. And even a strange rumor that Yeshion had contracted a terminal illness.
The subject of the distorted rumors was, unbeknownst to him, just busy cleaning the underground dungeon.
* * *
Yeshion scrubbed at the bloodstains on the floor.
This underground dungeon, briefly mentioned in the original work, was later used to confine the saintess who attempted to escape.
The dungeon, located in the deepest part of the temple, was a place where no moans or screams could be heard from outside. It was said that when this dungeon was first created, torture was rampant.
Yeshion unwittingly turned his head and looked at the torture devices. The catheter he had seen upon entering still boasted a menacing presence.
If the saintess had been a real woman, one might wonder why such things were here, but knowing the saintess was not a woman, there could only be one assessment of Eldis.
“Perverted bastard…”
When reading the novel, the thought was ‘I love such a character!’ but seeing such things in person inevitably forced a change of attitude.
Isn’t it obvious?
To think he would go to the lengths of obsession, confinement, and even such torture just to keep someone he liked by his side.
In the original work, when Eldis confined and sexually harassed the saintess, the people around him became even more agitated. Eldis was an archpriest who must not have any flaws.
‘What’s love anyway.’
Eldis is a man who attracts everyone’s attention.
His beauty and significant features were so divine that one could believe he was an incarnation of a god. His white hair and slightly darker skin compared to others added an exotic charm.
“I remember there was a reason why he shouldn’t be criticized more. What was it again…”
Yeshion narrowed his eyes.
However, he couldn’t remember. Unless he was the author, it’s impossible to recall every small and detailed setting.
“It’s probably not that important anyway.”
With that thought, Yeshion finished cleaning, closed the dungeon door behind him, and left.
Now, only the innermost, last cell remained.
He thought to clean as much as possible while he could and worked diligently, but continual bending had started to make his body ache everywhere.
Yeshion tapped his back and opened the last dungeon door.
Then, a strange noise came from inside.
It sounded like wire rattling.
“…Is anyone there?”
He raised his voice, but no response came back.
Yeshion narrowed his eyes and peered into the darkness beyond. The inner parts of the underground dungeon were pitch black without a single candlestick, making it difficult to see even a foot ahead.
“…Did I hear wrong?”
Muttering to himself, he sprinkled water on the floor and pushed the mop across it.
As he was mopping from the outside in, at that moment, something caught.
“Huh?”
It seemed like the mop had gone further in that direction?
As Yeshion leaned forward and moved deeper inside,
“Rrrr…”
A growling sound came as his wrist was grabbed. Startled, he opened his eyes wide, and in a moment, the view flipped, and his back hit the floor.
“Ah!”
He hit the back of his head and squeezed his eyes shut, then opened them again.
Before Yeshion’s eyes, there was a man resembling a beast, his red eyes flickering.
