Dahlia looked at her dress with a disinterested expression.
“I don’t like it. The fabric isn’t from Irenzia, there’s no gold thread, and the details are lacking.”
She casually tossed the dress, which was worth as much as a carriage, onto the floor.
Serina quickly picked it up and dusted it off, but Dahlia’s expression remained unchanged.
‘This is driving me crazy. Her mood swings are getting worse every day.’
Dahlia’s mood shifted daily, but Serina put up with it to survive.
Of course, the jewels Dahlia occasionally handed her also played a part in this.
Lately, though, she was growing weary.
The other maids said it was fortunate Serina was there, but no one actually supported her.
Serina inspected several dresses and set her sights on a blue one.
‘I’ll show this one last. It’s the closest in design and detail to what she usually wears.’
“But, Miss, the wedding is tomorrow, so you need to choose from these. Should I ask them to add more details to the one you pick?”
She could beg them to finish the alterations in a day. If she mentioned it was for the Heinrich Duchy, they’d likely comply without question.
However, the dress still needed to meet Dahlia’s approval first.
“How skilled can they be if this is the best they can do?”
Serina showed several dresses but had to face the reality that none pleased Dahlia.
All were from renowned artisans, and at the time, Dahlia had said she liked several of them.
“You said you liked them then…”
“I changed my mind.”
Serina hastily presented the blue dress.
“What about this blue one? It will look stunning on you, complementing your golden hair and drawing everyone’s attention.”
Dahlia frowned. She wasn’t impressed with this dress either, but there were no other options.
“None of them please me.”
“You’ll be moving to the main house tomorrow, so you’ll have access to many more beautiful dresses in the future.”
“Of course. My room must be all set up by now. I can’t wait to leave this place.”
“Miss, how about a cornflower blue sapphire necklace to go with this dress?”
The pear-cut gemstone, resembling a teardrop, was strung on a chain of diamonds.
The untreated gem had a uniform color, and its reflection in the light was particularly beautiful, resembling a cloudless blue sky.
“It looks nice. Your eye for jewelry has improved since you started receiving gems from me.”
“I will try to ensure that nothing I do reflects poorly on you, Miss.”
“Your effort is commendable, so I’ll wear it. It’s finally the day I get to shed this veil.”
“Everyone will be so confused about who the main attraction is. When they see you, they won’t even notice the Madam.”
“Haha, Serina, your flattery might be reckless, but I don’t dislike it, so I’ll let it slide.”
Despite her words, Dahlia seemed quite pleased. Serina felt a sense of relief.
“Miss, would you like a cup of warm tea first?”
“Have we received any good tea?”
“Yes, I heard this was specially ordered by the Duke.”
Serina went to the tray, skillfully checking the temperature of the tea in the teapot. She warmed the teacup and poured the brewed tea.
“Please enjoy this while you wait. In the meantime, I’ll ask for some additional enhancements on the dress.”
“Alright, I need some rest.”
Dahlia sipped her tea and leaned back on the sofa. The tea seemed to have a calming effect on her.

Emilia noticed that the main house was unusually busy.
“They wouldn’t be this frantic just for tomorrow’s wedding, so what’s going on?”
“I heard that after the wedding, Lady Dahlia will make her debut in society and will start living in the main house.”
“I see.”
Emilia nodded with a disinterested expression, not even glancing at the wedding dress standing to the side.
“Tomorrow will truly be…”
The beginning.
“Lady Dahlia will be using a room on the third floor, a bit away from the central staircase.”
“Not the second floor?”
“Yes, the Duke has arranged for her to use a room on the third floor.”
It’s still better than the annex.
The Heinrich estate had two annexes. One housed staff responsible for managing horses, carriages, and general maintenance, such as gardeners and gamekeepers. The other was more like a separate mansion, used as a guest house.
Dahlia stayed in the latter, but living in the annex instead of the main house wasn’t something she found pleasant. As the duke’s cousin, she wasn’t technically part of the main household, but given her close relationship with the Duke and her status as an esteemed guest, she deserved proper accommodation.
