Boestin smiled widely. Emilia pulled on the cord and called for Dell to bring tea.
“I think we have a visitor. Do you know who it might be?”
“No. It doesn’t seem like a guest who gave us advance notice,” Emilia replied, frowning as she glanced out the window. She noticed the Chevron family seal.
“Has that woman come again?”
It seemed that Lady Luther was trying to keep an eye on Mikhail by attaching someone close to her, like Lady Leah.
After all, the last time, a scandal had been caused by her visit to the Duke’s estate. She wanted to arrange a marriage to her for the purpose of monitoring, but it was clear their relationship had been strained.
“He said he was discarding Adrian.”
Emilia hoped that their relationship would grow even more strained. Normally, she would have had to take up a sword and fight desperately, but she couldn’t bring herself to do that.
There was still a dagger lying in her room.
“Is someone bothering you?”
Boestin asked casually. Emilia shook her head and answered.
“It seems like someone sent by the royal family.”
“Hmm. Actually, I need to pass something on to Mikhail.”
Boestin took a letter from her chest and, after a brief pause, smiled and handed it to Emilia.
“Madam, you should deliver it yourself. It’s an important letter for Mikhail.”
“May I ask what it is?”
“Well, since you’re married, I suppose it’s fine to tell you. It’s a reply from Princess Verne of the Kingdom of Eponsen.”
“…From Princess Verne?”
Emilia looked at the letter she had been handed, running her fingers over the wax seal bearing the Eponsen royal crest.
“Why is such an important letter being given to me?”
“Because I’m on your side. Mikhail doesn’t have much luck, does he?”
Boestin winked. Dell entered with tea and placed desserts on the table.
“Dell, is the guest still here?”
“I saw her leaving. It’s that woman again. Lady Leah from the Chevron family.”
Dell muttered, furrowing his brow. Emilia smiled faintly and nodded, then Dell fell silent and left.
“Call me if you need anything.”
“I will. Thank you.”
Once Dell closed the door, Emilia glanced at Boestin.
“Lady Boestin, do you like beautiful things?”
“I do. That’s why I like you.”
Boestin said with a sly smile, sipping her tea. Emilia felt relieved that Boestin seemed to like her.
Her sparkling blue eyes took Emilia in completely.
“I’ve never seen such red hair before.”
“Your light brown hair is lovely too. Where I used to live, red roses bloomed everywhere. The roses from Loren’s estate are so beautiful, they’re famous even in the Bartsch Kingdom.”
“Oh, can I still see them now?”
“You can see them if we go to the estate. It might be a mess, though…”
“Hmmm, so I can see them if we go to the Loren estate?”
Emilia nodded.
“You want to go to the estate? Your parents are probably staying there, and it looks like you need me to visit.”
Boestin immediately saw through Emilia’s intentions. She wasn’t the type to be fooled by a simple lie.
“That’s right. My parents are being kept in the estate under the royal family’s watch. I want to ask something, but I’m sure His Grace won’t let me.”
“Mikhail’s the problem.”
Boestin muttered as she sipped her tea. What if she refuses, saying it’s because of her closeness to Mikhail?
Her curiosity about the roses had been piqued, but she was a sharp person.
“Alright! Let’s go together. Mikhail will block us before we even leave, so we need a different way, right?”
“Will you really help me?”
“Of course. We’re not running away, and we’ll be back, won’t we?”
Emilia slowly nodded. Could she really escape? There was no place here where she would be welcomed. She didn’t have the appearance to hide either.
“Okay. Then let’s say I’m going to the Loren estate to see the roses. And make sure you use what I gave you well.”
Emilia looked at the letter in her hand.
It was originally meant for him, but it was in her hands now.
If it was something necessary, he would have to fulfill his part of the deal and give her what she wanted.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. I’m looking forward to seeing the Loren roses.”
Boestin said, savoring the scent of her tea.
“Unlike the dullness of Valoh, it seems like there’s always something interesting happening here. I’m starting to worry I might want to stay longer.”
“I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying your stay.”
“Of course. Honestly, I was curious about tea time in Bartsch too. How about we host one?”
“…I don’t think anyone would come.”
“You never know. If there’s a reason, people might come, don’t you think?”
Boestin gave a mysterious smile. Her curved eyes looked genuinely amused.

Mikhail gave a wry smile as he looked at the letter that had been thrust in front of him.
“So, this is a form of blackmail, is it?”
“If it sounds like blackmail, then sure. It’s a request. It’s not that hard, is it?”
Emilia didn’t back down. She acted as though she would refuse to give it unless he agreed.
Mikhail tapped his fingers on the table as he looked at the letter bearing the Eponsen royal seal.
