Adrian always found Mikhail’s calm attitude annoying. Even when he led the rebellion, he consistently maintained a stoic expression.
Yet, he easily captured the attention of many, perhaps due to his shining golden hair and handsome appearance.
“What are your thoughts on my proposal?”
“Your Majesty, it wouldn’t matter even if a law were not enacted. I understand you are currently enjoying yourself sufficiently.”
“It can be a hassle, too. To avoid creating bastards, one must take medicine.”
“If it bothers you, you can choose not to do it. I heard Lady Luther is currently struggling to find someone to become the future queen.”
“Ah, my mother is putting a great deal of effort into preserving this position. There’s no need for that, really.”
“Is it because there’s no suitable replacement?”
Adrian nodded in response to Mikhail’s question.
“For legitimacy, you just need to bring in another legitimacy.”
It was a valid point. He probably intended to bring in a princess from another country.
The issue was whether the other country would accept. Currently, Bartsch experienced frequent civil wars. While it was somewhat closed off being surrounded by the sea, that also made it easier to defend.
“Surely, Lady Luther will find a suitable person.”
“But, Mikhail, aren’t you curious? What conversations took place between you and your wife in this place?”
“Do I need to be curious?”
“I suppose you think nothing significant happened. The feeling when I touched those soft thighs hasn’t disappeared yet. You’re really fortunate. Don’t you indulge every day?”
Adrian sighed briefly, then with a twinkle in his eyes, he said, “Oh wait, not every day. I heard it was once a week.”
He chuckled, licked his lips with a red tongue, and added,
“I still regret it. If I could feel that sensation a bit more… Are the thorns of the roses in Loren still sharp?”
Will the day come when the thorns become dull? Until he dies, she could keep the thorns sharp to prick him. If she could somehow hurt him, she would do whatever it took.
It was better that way for him too. Nothing else was necessary besides the emotions he currently held.
It was better without any interfering elements.
“It was quite painful when I was pricked by the rose. I wonder if you experienced the same pain or if the thorns have been removed just for you.”
“I’m not particularly interested. Thorned or not, to me, it’s just a rose that needs to be broken.”
“Don’t you feel bitter when a rose is broken? It will only wither away.”
“Flowers are bound to wither someday. They might live longer if given water and fertilizer, but they still have to bloom and wither according to the seasons, don’t they?”
“If it came to me, I would have consistently given water and fertilizer so that it wouldn’t wither.”
“Your Majesty, do you know how many flowers are blooming in your garden?”
“Well, I haven’t counted.”
“I guess it’s about that much.”
Mikhail rose from his seat, leaning on his cane. His red pupils remained indifferent, but his words were precise.
Though there were already many roses and flowers by Adrian’s side, he hadn’t taken care of them. He only cast a brief glance.
“Then, I will take my leave.”
“…As expected, it’s not fun.”
Adrian waved his hand dismissively as if saying, “Do as you please.”

After observing the mansion and seeing Mikhail leave, Dahlia came forward. She observed attentively as they returned to the mansion after the banquet.
“After returning, ask the main handmaid what happened.”
“Yes!”
Dahlia felt pleased with the handmaid’s prompt response. She was quick-witted and capable, handling things smoothly without needing explicit instructions.
She couldn’t rely solely on her brother. It was unsettling to not know what he was thinking; hence, she had to take matters into her own hands.
Dahlia waited for the maid while enjoying a sweet macaron.
Knock, knock, knock.
With the sound of a gentle knock, the handmaid whispered softly.
“Miss, it’s Serena.”
“You may come in.”
As the door opened and Serena entered the room, her face lit up.
“This came from the Duke’s jacket.”
“From Brother’s jacket?”
Dahlia examined the medicine Serena handed her.
“Hmm. Was something like this in Brother’s pocket?”
Serena nodded. Dahlia took out a jewel from the drawer.
“For you, today will be a day of happiness.”
“T-Thank you!”
“Who saw this medicine?”
“Other than the maid who does the laundry, I’m not sure.”
“That child could use some happiness too.”
Without hesitation, Dahlia took out another jewel and handed it to Serena.
“If you continue to cooperate well, I can provide more than this. It shouldn’t be a big deal for you, right?”
“Yes, yes!”
“Then, you may leave.”
Before Serena left, Dahlia called her back.
“But, do you happen to know what this medicine is?”
“Oh… well, I did see it once before. It seems to be some kind of contraceptive.”
“A contraceptive?”
“Yes, I don’t know why it’s inside the Duke’s jacket, but… Should I inform the lady as well?”
“I’ll take care of that. Just act like you don’t know.”
Dahlia smirked as she looked at the medicine in her hand.
