There was something she was oblivious to. A hypothesis flashed through her mind like lightning.
What if what she had deemed impossible was actually an accurate deduction?
‘Surely the Stein royal bloodline had been cut off.’
Her nerves were on edge. She recalled Dahlia’s beautiful features that was always meticulously hidden behind a veil.
Then.
Byne strode forward and stood in front of Dahlia. She looked up at him, surprised.
“Excuse me. I’ll gladly accept any punishment later for taking liberties.”
“What?”
He suddenly lifted Dahlia into his arms and walked towards the door they had entered.
Dahlia, not expecting to be carried, opened her mouth in shock.
“Put, put me down!”
“I’m sorry, but I’m following His Grace’s orders and cannot put you down.”
She hit Byne’s chest. But his body that was hardened by swordsmanship, was unfazed by her small fists.
“Mi, Miss, don’t worry, I’m coming with you.”
Serena quickly followed them.
The knights who were in the room hurried out, leaving Emilia and Dell behind.
“Ah!”
Dell quickly regained her senses and meticulously drew the curtains to block any outside view.
“Are you uncomfortable, madam?”
“I’m fine, thanks to the shawl you brought me.”
Emilia had come out of the bathroom, changed into a thin slip. She was getting ready for bed when she had to come to the annex in a hurry. Thankfully, she was wearing a muslin shawl. She placed the shawl on the sofa and slightly opened the curtains Dell had drawn.
“Leaving the curtains slightly open like this looks more natural than having them completely closed.”
Relaxation washed over her, and fatigue hit her suddenly. Her neck was stiff. She massaged her sore neck and leaned back in the chair to look outside.
“Madam, His Grace has arrived.”
At the servant’s voice, Emilia’s head turned towards the door.
The door opened and Mikhail entered in his nightgown and casually sat next to her.
He reached out to tuck her hair behind her ear.
She shuddered. Just a few hours ago, that hand had been firmly gripping his own center.
Her eyes fluttered violently.
“Do as usual, Emilia von Heinrich.”
His voice was hoarse, breathing out a weary sigh.
Unexpectedly, Mikhail kissed the ends of her hair.
Emilia instinctively pushed him away.
Then, he smiled contentedly again.
“That’s right, just like that. That’s what I came for.”

Despite the discomfort and tension of being together in this situation, fatigue had accumulated to the point where sleep overwhelmed her. Fortunately, the distance between the two people in the room was significant.
Emilia was nodding off on the couch.
Mikhail, while reading the newspaper, casually turned his head towards Emilia. He was surprised to see her sleeping peacefully in such circumstances.
“Your Grace.”
“Is the shadow gone?”
Though he couldn’t tell the time, the dim dawn sky suggested that quite some time had passed.
Looks like rain might be coming.
Mikhail recalled Emilia standing soaked in the rain. Comparing then and now, it seemed their relationship had somewhat improved.
He was uncomfortable with this closeness. Thus, whenever he dredged up the forgotten hatred, he felt at ease.
He knew this relationship wouldn’t last long.
He had never intended to maintain this marriage. Apart from the Loren family, all other forces had weakened.
Moreover, voices opposing the royal family were gradually growing louder. If someone to support Adrian didn’t appear soon, it might be time to put plans into action.
“It seems you can return to the main house now.”
Mikhail stood up. Emilia didn’t wake up from their conversation, suggesting she was in a deep sleep.
“What about Madam?”
“Dahlia?”
“She’s waiting.”
The sensitive Dahlia struggled to sleep in a different bed.
As the knight opened the door, Dahlia entered, brushing her golden hair back.
“If this happens again, I’ll go mad.”
“You know why Adrian came here, don’t you?”
“How long must I hide? This is no different from before! I’ll take matters into my own hands.”
Dahlia responded irritably. She tossed her fan onto the couch and then noticed Emilia, who was asleep there.
“Ha! This woman has no guard up? She sleeps so soundly despite hating Brother so much.”
“She must be at peace, thinking death doesn’t matter.”
“Get rid of the king. This can’t continue.”
“It’s too soon. Every action has its timing.”
“What if you keep delaying and it leads to an unexpected situation?”
“Dahlia.”
“If Brother becomes fond of this woman, could you still seek revenge as originally planned?”
“That’s unlikely, but even if it happens, the plan won’t change.”
“This poor woman, I’m sorry too. Caught by cruel Brother, being used without knowing why.”
“It’s like a cat worrying over a mouse.”
“Cat or mouse, quickly take her out of my room. Serena, change the sheets and start cleaning.”
