Dahlia treated Emilia as if she was a repulsive insect.
“Brother, you can leave now. I’m too tired.”
“The wedding will soon take place. I’ll introduce you to everyone then, so bear with it until that time.”
“….Really?”
“You can’t stay hidden in the mansion forever, and continuing like this would risk being discovered. However.”
“However?”
Dahlia’s eyes narrowed, anticipating something she wouldn’t like. She crossed her arms and tilted her head.
“Avoid direct confrontations with Adrian. The moment your existence is revealed, everyone will start thinking of the impossible ‘Bayern.'”
“Is that all?”
“Yes.”
“I have no desire to interact or encounter that vulgar bloodline either.”
Dahlia mentioned she would go to bathe if there was nothing more to discuss. After she left, Mikhail felt a headache coming on again.
“Your Grace. Should I call the doctor?”
“I should be better after some rest.”
“I’ll follow you.”
“Let’s take the passageway, just in case.”
Byne nodded and approached Emilia, who was still sleeping.
Mikhail turned to enter the passageway first but then stood beside Byne.
“Lead the way.”
He then lifted the fastly asleep Emilia in his arms.
“It would be problematic if anyone saw, so I’ll take her.”
The softness of her skin was immediately noticeable through her thin dress.
Was she a bit too thin?
His brow furrowed involuntarily as he felt her back against his arms.
With just this unremarkable body…
His red eyes drifted to Emilia’s closed eyes. Her eyelashes were exceptionally long, beneath them lay a harmonious nose and plump, red lips, leading down to a white neck.
Below that, a protruding collarbone, and the slight swell of her chest that the thin dress couldn’t fully conceal caught his gaze.
‘Not just an unremarkable body after all.’
Mikhail corrected his earlier thought. Emilia was thin, but she had her own feminine allure.
He decided to stop scrutinizing her.
Mikhail laid her down on the bed.
There was nothing good about them being together.
Unless they were to tear into each other and reveal their fangs. Mikhail watched her sleep for a moment before walking away.

Lady Luther was having tea in the garden, browsing the newspaper.
She had invited Adrian for morning tea, but he had excused himself due to a prior commitment, leaving her to have tea time with Leah alone.
Having tea while reading the morning paper was her routine for starting the day.
Lady Luther’s face hardened as she read the newspaper.
“It seems Adrian has finally lost his mind.”
[The king, out of fondness for a loyal subject, appeared to show excessive interest in the Duke’s wife. Rumors circulated about a secret preference extending to the loyal subject as well.]
All sorts of speculative articles were plastered everywhere.
“Again, again! Here it is. The Spiegel Newspaper!”
Lady Luther crumpled the newspaper and ground her teeth. It was one thing to irk her occasionally, but the publication consistently criticized the royal family.
Finding the newspaper’s base to eradicate it seemed impossible; every time they thought they had found it, it vanished. Whenever they located its headquarters, it disappeared again.
Lady Luther barely managed to suppress her rising anger.
“This is why Adrian’s reputation won’t improve.”
Leah, who had been quietly observing, spoke up.
“Aunt, the Spiegel Newspaper is known for donating a part of its revenue to buy necessities for the needy. So, more people will continue to buy the Spiegel Newspaper, and they won’t disappear.”
“And what’s your point?”
“If the royal family also adopts a similar approach to benefit the people, maybe we can sway some of those who support the Spiegel Newspaper to our side.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“Because they’re not against the royal family out of hatred but because they’re fooled by the simplistic good versus evil narrative spun by the Spiegel Newspaper. It’s a simple concept.”
Encouraged by Leah’s words, Lady Luther called for a handmaid.
“Bring me paper and a pen.”
The handmaid acted swiftly, soon bringing the requested items. Lady Luther wrote down a time to meet with the financial advisor.
“Schedule it as soon as possible.”
“Understood.”
The servant quickly vanished with the letter on a silver tray, reflecting the staff of Lady Luther’s.
“Leah, have you heard anything about Count Ablio’s party? Something feels off.”
“Hmm, I did hear something peculiar. Everyone knows Brother enjoys dancing with married noblewomen, but it’s unusual for him to show interest in a maid.”
“….A maid?”
Lady Luther was speechless. Not content with noblewomen, now a maid too?
“Absurd.”
Lady Luther spoke with a fury-filled voice.
A maid is absolutely out of the question.
Flirting with married noblewomen was, in a way, cleaner than tampering with a young lady, since no one would eye the king as a remarriage candidate.
Moreover, it was quite common for the king to offer a mistress to a loyal subject. Though in Adrian’s case, it was the other way around.
