I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 11
I wanted to pass out as I was carried in Reina’s arm, but my mind was remarkably clear.
Upon arriving at a place with a row of carriages, Reina had me board one of them, and a little later, she handed me a deep wine-colored uniform, just like the one she was wearing.
After handing me the clothes, Reina closed the door and left. Only then did I start to take off the cloak that had been wrapped around me and clumsily change, all sorts of thoughts running through my head.
‘What if I suddenly turn back into a pigeon?’
I’d be caught by Reina first, and then reported to Rai, and if I looked suspicious enough, I’d be imprisoned in the tower, tortured, and possibly killed.
If I’m lucky enough to escape, I’ll be picked up by an eagle and taken to Regia, where I’ll probably be tortured by that smiling monarch.
‘I want to go home.’
As I lost myself in my own thoughts, I heard a shout from outside the carriage.
“You’re all dressed, right?”
“Yes. I’m almost…”
Before I could finish my sentence, Reina opened the carriage door and climbed in, glancing at my attire before reaching over and fastening the unfinished buttons.
“Have a seat.”
As soon as she had me seated, she placed her hand on my forehead and muttered something, and at that moment, a warm rush of energy flowed from my forehead and spread throughout my body.
As the energy touched and passed over the burns, the pain was instantly relieved. The effect was faster than painkillers.
“Now that we’ve taken care of the immediate needs, you should go to the Tower Lord for proper treatment.”
“Yes, thank you so much…”
Unperturbed by my answer, Reina sat up straight in the seat across from me, crossed her arms, and stared at me. The look in her eyes was so formidable, it sent chills down my spine. As I stared, Reina spoke up.
“For an elf, you’re pretty good with human language, aren’t you…?”
My brain froze for a moment.
‘Oh, so you’re saying that I’m an… elf? Oh, that’s right, I’m in the body of an elf named Keisha, and my transformation has been undone, so… I must look like an elf. Elves can tell who’s an elf, no matter how you look at it… Maybe I have pointed ears too…’
I slowly raised my right hand and touched the tip of my ear. They were pointy, which means my pupils must be red, too…
I lifted my head to look at my hair, which was down to my waist. A pale light blue. And like Ventus’s hair, it seemed to have a faint glow of its own.
I didn’t know if it was a perk of being from another world, or if it was because I had no trouble with language. Apparently the languages of humans and fairies are different, but what am I supposed to say? I don’t know.
Thinking I was Ventus, I replied. “Well, somewhat, I guess.”
“…I’ll have to go to the Magic Tower to find out more, but…”
“Sure.”
“What are the elves doing here?”
“Huh?”
An elf suddenly appearing in the flames and falling naked…
‘…That definitely looks suspicious. What should I say?’
I tried to recall all the different settings I’ve seen in games in the past.
‘What should I say to make it sound somewhat natural…’
Then, someone came to mind.
Alfie, an alpaca NPC who goes to the Royal Academy Mina attends. The Royal Academy of Alucina was a premier educational institution established by the imperial family, with the goal of training key individuals to defend the empire in the future.
Matching its prestigious reputation, most of the academy students were the offspring of nobility. However, there seemed to be a certain level of game-specific allowance for Mina, who was set to be an otherworldly character. Unexpectedly, the academy boasted quite a diverse range of individuals. Among them, the most distinctive was Alfie, an Alpaca-type humanoid.
In a world where humanoid species could have variations like animal-like ears or tails, Alfie was a bipedal alpaca. He had the face of an Alpaca, covered entirely in Alpaca fur except for his human-like hands and feet. Alpha’s unique appearance was well-received, given his background as a foreign exchange student from a distant humanoid realm.
‘Well, maybe… this could work?’
I decided to take a gamble.
“…I’m a foreign exchange student on my way to the Royal Academy.”
“A foreign exchange student?”
Reina’s eyes narrowed, and I could tell she was genuinely suspicious. I hoped I wouldn’t face immediate execution if I were caught in a lie here.
“It is my understanding that the elves view the magic of humans as inferior, so why…. study abroad?”
For a moment, the haughty look flashed across Ventus’s face, and he deeply agreed. But this is what it’s come to, so there’s nothing to do but commit to the act.
“Well, let’s just say…… the latest trend is to keep up with the times and familiarize ourselves with multicultural magic. Haha, I was supposed to be the representative, but I got caught in the flames on the way there, and it was pretty intense, haha.”
“…Multicultural magic. Right, that makes sense.”
…Does it really? No way.
Reina nodded in approval. I didn’t quite understand what she meant, but it seemed to work. Fortunately.
“Then, did you come here alone? No guardian?”
The sudden shift to informal language was probably due to the circumstances. Reina asked with a more relaxed expression. As if I would have a chaperone.
“I came here alone.”
“That’s how elves are, right?”
Reina clucked her tongue and showed her displeasure openly. I wonder if she has a grudge against the elves.
“You need at least one guardian to enroll. Since there’s some time left until the new semester, you should try to get in touch.”
It was even right before the new semester? The timing was perfect, and Reina seemed to buy my excuse.
‘How am I going to get a guardian, anyway?’
I hate to think about it, but I can only think of one elf guardian, and I really don’t want to get involved with him.
“Um… is it really impossible without a guardian?”
“Yes, it is. That’s the rule.”
“Alright.”
She was so adamant that I’m at a loss for words. If that’s the case, I guess I’ll just have to run away before the new semester.
“You’ll have to stay in the Tower until the new semester. The Tower Lord ordered you to stay there and receive full treatment until you’re completely healed.”
“Alright.”
Okay, it seemed like running away wasn’t an option.
“As a foreign exchange student, I’ll introduce myself again. I’m Reina, in charge of practical magic lectures at the Royal Academy. Nice to meet you.”
She’s a professor…?
I had no idea how this happened, but it felt like things had taken a turn for the worse. I was genuinely starting to feel anxious.
Please save me.
