I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 12
After a solid three hours of travel, the carriage finally arrived at the Tower. I pretended to sleep the entire time, knowing that staying awake would somehow lead to a barrage of questions from Reina. Eventually, the carriage slowed to a stop.
As I followed Reina out of the carriage, the air hit me with the smell of winter. I looked around and saw Rai getting out of the carriage a short distance away.
A group of mages followed him in a line as they entered the Tower. Finally, Reina and I entered the Tower last.
It was a novel experience, entering the Tower through the main entrance meant for people. I was used to flying in from the outside, usually entering through windows.
Upon passing through the door, the first space we entered appeared to be a circular hall that resembled a magical circle, with a marbled floor and an outer rim adorned with intricately glowing flowers.
“My Lord, you have arrived.”
A middle-aged man with graying hair and a silver monocle stepped forward to greet Rai. After looking at Rai, the middle-aged man’s gaze turned to me.
“And who is this…?”
In response to the man’s question, Reina stepped forward.
“This is a foreign exchange student the Tower Lord rescued. She needs treatment for a while, so please prepare a room.”
“Very well.”
Rai began climbing the stairs in silence. Once he disappeared from view, everyone relaxed and began moving on their own.
“Ms.Reina, may I have the guest’s name…?”
The middle-aged man, who had approached slowly through the crowd, stared at me and spoke softly. Reina looked at me, seeming a bit embarrassed.
“Come to think of it, I never asked for your name. Your name is…?”
Might as well say the name of this body for now.
“…My name is Keisha.”
“Alright, Keisha. Bart, take care of Keisha.”
“Understood. Please follow me.”
The man called Bart politely led me away. I followed him a few steps and when I looked back, Reina had already turned and was headed somewhere else.
In a situation where I didn’t know when I would turn back into a bird, I wanted to escape immediately, but it didn’t seem possible just yet. A cold sweat starts to run down my back.
Following Bart’s slow pace, I entered the room labeled “South Wing.” The moment I stepped inside, I was met with a breathtaking sight.
‘It looks like a 5-star hotel…’
The room was filled with warmth from the late afternoon sun. Through the wide window, I could see Alucina’s Royal Palace in the distance. Despite being on the first floor, the Tower itself was situated on a high plateau, making it a prime spot for a scenic view.
A round red carpet was laid in front of the door, and in the center of it, there was a wooden table adorned with the same strange glowing flowers I had seen in the lobby. Turning to my right, I saw a white bed, made up without a single wrinkle. It was like walking into a luxury hotel.
“You can rest here. If you need anything, please ring the bell next to you.”
“Yes, thank you.”
I bowed deeper than Bart had ever bowed before. I felt uncomfortable with the way a seemingly fatherly man was showing me such reverence.
“Then, please rest.”
With those last words, Bart left the room.
When I was finally alone, I let out an involuntary sigh. If I could transform back to a carrier pigeon, I could simply open the window and return to Rai.
I quickly walked over to the window and opened it. The cold air of midwinter flowed into the room. First, I took a deep breath and…I only have one skill for transformation, so I guess I’ll use that.
[Use Skill – Half-and-Half Transformation.] [Skill usage failed!]
Huh, it’s a 50% chance, so it should work.
[Use Skill – Half-and-Half Transformation.] [Skill usage failed!]
And transformation failed with a 100% probability.
…What’s going on?
