I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 21
The Royal Academy of Alucina consists of four grades. What makes it unique is that the grades aren’t based on age. It’s not a school where anyone enters once they reach a certain age; rather, admission is granted only to those who meet specific conditions.
These conditions are quite varied and include not only the manifestation of extraordinary abilities, but also the attainment of a certain status or position.
Thus, our heroine Mina, who is nineteen years old in the setting, is enrolled in the first grade. This is because her healing magical abilities manifested when she was nineteen, making her eligible for admission at that age after crossing over to this world.
Crown Prince Edin, however, was only a year older than Mina, but in the fourth grade.
‘They said he was admitted directly at seventeen just because he’s of royal descent…’
By that standard, elves who are born with outstanding magical qualities from birth could be said to be in the same class as the professors of the magic department, who have at least ten years of experience after manifesting their magical abilities. But since I was officially a foreign exchange student, I was assigned to the first year without exception.
So, I ended up having to attend the inaugural ceremony, which was quite awkward.
“…What in the world is that?”
“Aren’t those spirits?!”
“Feels like it! Wow, fairies are one thing, but spirits too…!”
So, I was now sitting in the central plaza where the Royal Academy’s inauguration ceremony was being held, seated among other new students. In the front row, I saw Mina, and not far away was Alfie, the alpaca man.
Even otherworldly girls and humanoid alpacas seemed surprised by the appearance of an elf in this place. Despite the somewhat confusing situation, I managed to sit calmly.
However, the current situation was a bit different. During the principal’s speech at the Royal Academy, there suddenly came a loud ‘whoosh’ sound accompanied by a dazzling display of multicolored lights in the sky.
At that moment, the professors of the Royal Academy, seated in rows on the platform, all immediately assumed defensive postures.
Students also looked up at the sky, and so did I. Shimmering spirits, about the size of a fist, flew in swarms and began forming something large in the sky.
And when the formation finally took shape, I couldn’t help but gasp. They were words.
★ Congratulations to our little Keisha on her admission! ★
…Ventus, I’m gonna kill you.
“…That’s our language, isn’t it?”
“The elves are showing off by writing in our language.”
“Wow… I’ve heard that elves can be showy, but this is incredible.”
“…Do they really want to stand out even during the entrance ceremony?”
“I’m so jealous, it’s so romantic…”
“What’s romantic? It’s embarrassing. Even the girl from another world is keeping quiet, and they’re doing this.”
‘You’re all right. Except for the romance part.’
Moreover, it seemed that Ventus had crafted the message using the language of Alucina rather than the language of the elves. I had been reading all the characters naturally, not realizing that they were different, so I hadn’t grasped the level of detail in their ostentation.
I regretted not purchasing an invisibility cloak earlier. I could have gotten one from the black market in the commercial district for a million gold. Oh well, I didn’t have a million gold anyway.
I tried to keep a poker face. If for no other reason, it seemed like an appropriate response to have my brain completely shut down by embarrassment.
I glanced up and saw Reina nervously fidgeting on the platform. I take a deep breath.
★ Show them, Keisha! ★
★ Take over the academy! ★
As the crazy show of phrases came to an end, the spirits disappeared quickly, like office workers clocking out. Once they were gone, a silence enveloped the square. It was so quiet that I wished someone would just curse or something to break the silence.
Of course, even at this moment, I maintained a poker face. Or rather, it would be more accurate to say I was half-stunned at that point.
“We have a very ambitious student in our… freshman class. Let’s all give her a round of applause.”
After a pause, the principal broke the silence, and one by one, the dumbfounded people started clapping. I also joined the clapping. I wasn’t sure if it was okay to clap for myself, but I wanted to blend into the crowd as much as possible.
So, I received applause for a long time, and I don’t remember how things went afterward. Anyway, the entrance ceremony ended, and after that, I gained the nickname “Mio[1]“. It was apparently short for “crazy elf.”
