I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 24
With an unmistakably sweet smile, Rai patted me on the head and left the room, at which point a translucent window popped up.
[Congratulations! Rai Sherfied’s affection levels have increased by 0.00331!]
[Streak bonus! Choose your reward.
- Charm +10
- Health +10
- Gold +1 million]
…what the?
A bonus section? That’s awesome. What should I choose…
After a moment’s hesitation, a prompt pops up in front of me.
[Charm +10 increases your chance of finding a better option by 0.0001%.]
[Health +10 increases your auto-movement speed will increase by 0.0002%.]
[Gold +1 million allows you to buy items. (*You can also buy from black market vendors. Items that can be purchased for 1 million gold (Cloak of Invisibility / Elkiore’s Grimoire / Flashing Boots…))]
‘One option is overwhelmingly good, isn’t it?’
After reading the prompts, I didn’t hesitate on which reward to choose. Of course it’s this.
[Congratulations, you’ve earned 1 million gold.]
There was only one reason I chose the 1 million gold. Black Market Vendor. The items they sell are so rare and have such game-breaking uses that if something is in stock, it’s a must-buy.
However, the price of each item was astronomical, and I usually couldn’t afford to buy more than three items from the vendor in a single playthrough. Even if you spent the entire game grinding for gold, there was a time limit of one year.
So normally, it’s a rule of thumb to buy items that will help you in the main character’s events, especially for users like me striving to complete the event log.
But today’s event had nothing to do with the event log, so I was going to buy what I needed.
Getting my hands on the black market vendor’s goods would help me deal with future situations.
Upon exiting the tower, I swiftly flew down to a secluded alley in the commercial district and reverted my transformation. With a 300% buff, it seemed like failing the transformation skill was a thing of the past.
After briefly surveying my surroundings, I recalled and ventured into the second alley of the commercial district. This is where the black market vendors who normally hide their identities are located.
I stopped in front of a general store. I saw a shabby wooden sign with peeling green paint.
Dito’s Emporium.
This was the place. Without hesitation, I opened the door and walked in.
The general store looked like a junkyard. Worn fabric covered the haphazardly stacked items and paintings, and the old wooden floor was dented in places.
I saw a wooden checkout counter half-lit by the setting sun. Behind the counter was a man with bright brown hair who was nodding off. It was Dito.
I cautiously approached and tapped the register. Dito’s eyes fluttered open and he stretched.
He looked every bit the down-and-out proprietor of a failing store, yet he was the illicit trader handling the black market of the Alucina Empire.
“Hmph…What…thing…” Dito asked slowly, yawning.
I smiled and replied. “I’m here to buy Elkiore’s Grimoire.”
The Elkiore’s Grimoire is a rare item originally used to win over the Crown Prince. It contained instructions for learning a variety of magic, from one-star spells like transmutation to five-star spells like Rai’s favorite, Meteor. It was said to be a legendary tome that allowed even those without a foundation in magic to easily learn spells. The only downside is that you can’t choose which magic you want to learn.
‘Does the book suggest randomly learned spells when read?’
The book spewing out spells might be a bit of a stretch based on my criteria, but if I were to think about it from my perspective, it felt like a magical gacha item. It’s an essential item for a small fry like me who needs to survive.
For some reason, Edin has been searching for this book for a long time. If I get the book for him, it triggers a midnight library date event with him. If I preemptively take the book, it means Mina loses the chance for a library date.
‘…I’m sorry. But the Crown Prince will confess his love anyway, right…?’
I’m sorry Mina, but I had to take the book. It was a matter of survival.
But Dito remained silent. He scratched the back of his head as he studied my face, as if trying to gauge my intentions.
“Ah, Elkiore’s Grimoire…? I don’t know what it is…”
Damn. That damned black marketeer had cast confusion on me.
