I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 31
“…Are you kidding me?”
“I’m not kidding. It’s the truth!”
Leon seemed skeptical of my words. Leon… When I was Mina, he’d believe a rock was a rice cake if I said so. Why does he treat me so differently now? It’s disheartening, really.
“You’re aware that the Tower Lord despises elves, right? So am I supposed to believe… that he was with you?”
“Well… It’s possible that he wouldn’t like them… But truly, at that time yesterday, he was at the teahouse with me.”
“Moreover, at the teahouse…? I see. Did you enjoy any refreshments together there?”
Leon now seemed to think I was lying outright. He covered his eyes with his right hand, let out a small sigh of exasperation, and looked at me again. He was still expressionless, but there was a hint of a sneer in his voice.
“Okay, then let’s do this,” Leon said as if he were showing great mercy.
“Bring the Tower Lord here with you within a day, and I will release you from your charges.”
“Is that really all?”
“Of course. If it’s possible, that is.”
“Alright. You promised.”
I strode out confidently, though I didn’t feel confident at all. A day… just a day. Suddenly, it felt like a life-or-death quest turned into a one-day timed mission.
Damn it. Muttering curses under my breath, I stepped outside. It was time to kick my brain into full gear.

At the top floor of the Mage Tower, Rai slowly read the characters on the paper Reina handed him and then lowered the paper.
“Understanding Deep-Sea Creatures… Psychology of Slimes… Practical Execution of Tasks…? What is all this?”
“…This is the list of classes Keisha signed up for.”
“I get that, but what’s all this?” Rai chuckled dryly and tapped his desk with his index finger. “So, a foreign student supposedly here to officially learn human magic applied for Understanding Deep-Sea Creatures and Psychology of Slimes…? Ha.”
“It seemed odd that she hadn’t attended my classes… so, I looked into it, and this is what I found.”
“Alright. Let’s just leave it for now.”
“Huh? But…”
“We’ll figure out what they’re up to by keeping an eye on them. Those two are doing well, aren’t they?”
“Oh, you mean Melli and Per? I’ve cautioned them thoroughly. There won’t be any slip-ups.”
“Good. Report to me every day. I’m quite curious about what the exchange student is planning.”
Rai’s lips curved upwards.
“You know,” said Reina, “it seems the investigation into the theft at the royal warehouse will start focusing on the Royal Academy. Should we help the Knights?”
“The theft at the royal warehouse…?”
“Yes. Word has it that the Emperor’s cherished fishing rod was stolen…”
“Ridiculous. Knights getting involved in such petty matters,” Rai scoffed.
Reina cautiously continued, “…But it seems that’s not all.”
“Not all?”
“It appears one of the guards protecting the warehouse was murdered.”
“So, a mere thief trying to steal a fishing rod killed a royal guard? That doesn’t add up.”
“That’s a bit odd for me too. Should I look into it further?”
Rai, who had been lost in thought for a moment, lightly shook his head. “Leave it. Leon will take care of it.”
“I heard traces of mana were found, but I don’t suppose it had anything to do with us?”
“Well…” Rai stood up, gazing blankly outside through the window as he spoke. “Whether there’s a connection or not, if caught, they should face consequences. Especially if they’re foolish enough to engage in such actions without even thinking they won’t get caught.”
“Yes, then I won’t intervene for now.” Reina nodded in compliance.
Rai grabbed his coat and turned around. “I have some matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving. You take care of the rest.”
“Understood.”

“His Excellency, the Tower Lord, is currently absent.”
After racking my brains, I decided to be honest and ask for help from the Mage Tower. Reina, whom I encountered in the Tower lobby, responded that the Tower Lord wasn’t available when I came to request assistance.
Memories from long ago flooded back, seeming distant. Could it be that I won’t be able to meet Rai again like this?
“Would you happen to know where he went?”
“I can’t disclose that information; it’s confidential. What’s the matter?”
“Um… it’s nothing.”
I couldn’t bring myself to say that I needed it to clear myself of a murder accusation, so I beat around the bush.
‘Where should I look?’
If I flew in pigeon mode, I’d probably find him in one go. But using that skill now, when I don’t know where Coo is, might result in getting instantly dealt with by Rai, who’s likely with the real Coo.
‘Guess there’s no other way.’
I must leverage my former skills and try tracking Rai Sherfied.
