I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 38
In the Knights’ investigation room. Leon was lost in thought with Knight Diana seated in front of him. Diana watched him carefully and then spoke up.
“Commander, what should we do now?”
“Now that Tower Lord has given his testimony, it would be difficult to conduct any further formal investigation.”
“But… based on the evidence we’ve gathered, isn’t that elf the most likely suspect?”
“Yes. We have no choice but to trust that evidence. However…”
Leon’s words trailed off.
“Is there something… bothering you?”
“At first, I didn’t doubt it, but… everything seems to neatly point towards her, which makes me a bit suspicious too.”
Leon’s gaze drifted toward the window. Then, his eyes narrowed slightly. Outside, an alpaca-person and an elf were walking somewhere, engaged in conversation.
Staring silently at the elf’s face, smiling brightly while chatting away, Leon finally spoke.
“I’ll conduct the follow-up investigation alone.”
Confusion flashed across Diana’s face. “That’s too risky. We could end up in conflict with the Magic Tower…”
“I understand. That’s why I said I’ll handle it alone.”
However, Leon’s demeanor was firm. Diana swallowed hard.
She knew. There was nothing she could do to stop him with that look on his face.
“…Then, I’ll assist you.”
So she gave in and took a different path. But Leon shook his head.
“No, you can’t.”
“Commander…”
“For now, I request that you prepare an interim report to be submitted to His Majesty by the end of today. Just list the evidence found for now, excluding the part about potential suspects.”
“…Understood.”
Leon’s gaze returned to the window once again.

“Oh… you’re finally here. Let’s get started then.”
Wow, unbelievable. They were waiting for me. I felt overwhelmed for a moment and took a quick breath. Why were they waiting? Don’t they usually proceed without those who are late?
I had several questions, but it took me about three seconds after glancing around the classroom to understand.
There were a total of four students, including me and Alfie. It seemed like in this world, there wasn’t a minimum attendance requirement for classes. My plan to quietly fade into the background in every class just fell apart miserably.
Following Alfie’s guidance, I sat at the front row, and the professor smiled contentedly. Instead of reprimanding me for being late, the professor’s face beamed with joy.
He had a muscular physique resembling a fitness trainer and roughly spiked orange hair. Even with a quick glance, the professor seemed to be inclined towards combat styles. They flashed their pearly white teeth and suddenly exclaimed,
“Our lives are full of angles and edges!”
The room crackled as he shouted under his breath. My head was pounding, and I turned around to see Alfie’s eyes wide with anticipation.
“However, slimes are flexible! Have any of you seen it? The elegant figure of a slime flowing down angular stairs like water!”
“I have! I saw it!”
A student sitting next to Alfie, a blonde girl with her hair parted in two neat braids, exclaimed. It was truly an astonishing response. What should I do…? I have an ominous feeling that something in this class is specialized for extroverts.
At that moment, the professor drew a massive mass, presumably a slime, on the board and chuckled before saying, “That’s right! Understanding the psyche of this slime is the process of realizing the truth of life!”
…Huh?
“And those who choose this path of truth-seeking are the most mature individuals in this academy!”
‘…It seems like a gathering of people who clearly failed to enroll in the right class…’
Despite my skepticism, the professor, Alfie, and Student 1 gleamed with excitement, laughing and applauding.
‘I can’t keep up with the atmosphere at all…!’
It felt like I should leave right then and there, but I couldn’t even recall if there was a way to cancel enrollment in the class. As the room spun slightly with the overwhelming voices, the professor began rummaging through a large bag. After a while, the professor pulled out giant slime costume heads.
‘Could it be… No, it can’t be. It shouldn’t be.’
Observing the professor’s actions with an anxious gaze, our eyes met, and the professor, flashing those pearly whites as before, began distributing the costumes.
“Wow, I can’t believe I’m seeing this in person!”
Student 1 with the blonde hair shouted in excitement.
“…Is there any chance we could skip this one?”
An unnamed Student 2 begged with a resigned expression. I hadn’t realized they had been so quiet until now. Finally, encountering someone with a similar sentiment made me feel less alone. Student 2 stared sadly at the slime costume with a forlorn look.
Meanwhile, Alfie exclaimed in a similar tone to Student 1, “I’m really looking forward to this, aren’t you, Keisha?!”
“Huh? Uh… um. Hmm.”
In my hand was a sky-blue slime costume head. Its material felt like rubber, silicone, or something similar, squishy and leaving me quite bewildered.
At that moment, the muscular professor chuckled and said, “I matched the students’ costumes with their hair color. Do you like it?”
“What? Uh… yes, thank you.”
I awkwardly expressed my gratitude.
‘…He’s so kind, but I don’t feel thankful at all…!’
The professor, seemingly pleased, wearing an orange slime costume head possibly matching his own hair, shouted, “All learning starts with experience! Follow me, students!”
‘Follow…? Where are we following you? Wait, Professor…’
Before I could comprehend the situation, the large orange slime dashed out of the classroom passionately, followed by Alfie and Student 1, giggling as they followed suit.
Oh gods…
