I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 4
“Coo, coo-coo-coo!”
I flapped my wings, making strange noises without realizing it.
Boom—
A beam of light stretched out from Rai’s right hand and pierced through the mysterious beast from its mouth to the back of its neck. The beast burned white without making a sound, and then crumbled into ashes.
Rai, who had been gazing at the whirlpool with focused eyes, immediately changed the shape of his fingers. When he adjusted them as if holding a wine glass, a man suddenly emerged from the whirlpool.
With sunken eyes and drool running down his chin, the man, who clearly appeared to have lost his sanity, shouted with mad eyes.
“At last, I’ve succeeded!! Are you the one who answered my call?! Beings of this world!! Heed my command—uggh!”
As Rai flicked his finger, something resembling a massive water droplet enveloped the man’s body, floating in the air and making a bubbling sound before disappearing like a balloon popping.
“Tsk.”
Rai, who had silently observed the whirlpool with a slight sigh, finally lowered his hand and straightened his posture. This was the moment.
“…Huh? There’s a path here….”
From the whirlpool, a pair of black shoes emerged, and shortly after, a perplexed-looking girl appeared. She had short brown hair, a checkered skirt, and a white blouse, dressed in a school uniform.
“…What’s going on? Where am I?”
The teddy bear attached to the girl’s red backpack jiggled as she took a big step. It was this world’s heroine, Mina.
“Are you surprised? This place is the Empire of Alucina.”
With a light smile, Rai spoke the exact same line. It was the dialogue heard for the first time upon arriving in this place after starting the game and finishing the intro.
It was unbelievable. How could such an incredible event happen right before this peaceful and kind greeting? What on earth was that creature, and who was that madman? And how could Rai handle it so casually?
Rai wore a business-like smile, unlike me who was half out of my mind at what I had just witnessed. He guided the bewildered Mina as if nothing had happened.
“You might feel a little dizzy. That’s usually the case when you first experience dimensional travel.”
“Did I… travel dimensions?”
“That’s right. Believe it or not.”
Rai led Mina towards the exit. Watching the game’s opening from a third-person perspective felt quite fascinating. The fact that the third person’s body was that of a pigeon was a source of constant wonder, though…
As the door opened, the navy-haired man who had greeted them earlier had disappeared, leaving only a single guard to welcome them.
“It’s been a long time since we had guests from another world. Please, come in. His Imperial Majesty is waiting for you.”
“……His Imperial Majesty?”
Mina’s eyelashes fluttered. Yes, I remember. From here, you’ll be transported directly to the Imperial Palace. And from there, you’ll be told what to do.
Occasionally, those who had lost their way in this world through the portal would appear, and Mina was one of them. They were told that to return, they had to enter the portal at the exact same time one year later.
Presumably, Mina travels to the palace and hears the story, and her first meeting with the second male lead, the Crown Prince, takes place.
Ah, I remember. The Crown Prince. He was the student council president of the Royal Academy, where Mina would spend the year, and he was an idol to all the students. With his dazzling golden hair and pale gray eyes, even his eyelashes were golden.
“You can’t stay by my side…… can you?
Even the confession dialogue was so bittersweet that it made it difficult to reject. Of course, I had no intention of rejecting it, but I couldn’t avoid that darn “bad ending” in the game.
To be honest, Rai was my favorite character, but I had never gone beyond the “bird food” ending, so I had more memories with the Crown Prince.
‘I’m sorry, I have…… something I really need to do and I have to go back.’
I remember the sheepish grin on his face as he heard my line about my college admissions.
‘…I see. If that’s your choice… I can only respect it. But Mina, I truly need you.’
His voice was slightly trembling, as if from somewhere deep within. Recalling it made me feel a little wistful.
“Is it over? You’re out earlier than usual.”
Reina approached Rai, who had just finished his work.
“Who do you think will succeed this time?”
“I don’t know.”
There was a subtle hint of sarcasm in Rai’s voice as he casually shifted me onto his right hand.
“Maybe everyone, or maybe no one.”
Emotionless eyes and a slightly upturned mouth. I’d never seen Rai like this before. In fact, most of what I saw today was unfamiliar. In my memory, Rai was a quiet man reading a book or going for tranquil walks, and I wondered if that was really the case…….
Rai carefully examined me, perched on his right hand.
“I guess it doesn’t matter, whoever it is.”
