I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 40
“Great work today! You were really excellent. Let’s all meet again next week.”
I later found out the professor’s name was Manus. Professor Manus left the class with a big smile on his face. The good news was that classes at the Royal Academy were only once a week.
As I exited the classroom, already feeling like melted wax, Alfie called out cheerfully with his sunny voice.
“Hey, everyone! If you’re free tonight, let’s grab dinner together!”
Alfie’s clearly an extrovert. And an extreme one at that.
“Sure, sure! I’m in!”
Student 1 seemed to agree.
“Well… I don’t have much appetite…”
Student 2 appeared to be dispirited. Just like me.
“Eating will give you energy, so you’ll have the energy to eat more! Then you can eat more, right, Keisha?”
‘Alfie, what the hell are you talking about’
That thought echoed in my mind, but I couldn’t bring myself to say that to kind-hearted Alfie, so I just mumbled, “Um, yeah.”
“Alright, then we’re all going together!”
The alpacas had great momentum. Alfie grabbed me and Student 2, one on each arm, and we started walking.
The restaurant Alfie guided us to wasn’t far from Dito’s Emporium. It was called ‘Emma’s Kitchen,’ known for cooking using vegetables they grow themselves.
“Having just four of us in a class feels great!”
“Yeah, it does. Feels like an elite few!”
‘What’s the benefit of becoming one of the elite few slimes …?’
I couldn’t muster the energy to respond, so I just faintly smiled.
“Oh, I forgot! We didn’t properly introduce ourselves! Let me start. I’m Lolo! I’m from the Shrine! I got selected as a special apprentice priest and will be attending classes for a year. Nice to meet you!!”
Student 1, with a small build and braided golden hair, turned out to be a priestess.
No wonder there was a radiant energy about them. They seemed like the type who could heal the atmosphere. Impressive, but Lolo was someone I hadn’t encountered when I played the game before.
“Then I’ll go second. I’m Alfie! I’m studying abroad as a representative of the Alpaca People, and my dream is to study hard here and become an archmage to protect my country. I’m so happy to meet you all today!”
As expected, the outgoing Alfie couldn’t resist being the second to introduce himself. His enthusiasm was remarkable. Lolo applauded cheerfully at Alfie’s introduction. Where on earth do they get that much energy from?
Feeling fascinated, I absentmindedly stared at them until I glanced at Student 2. Alphi and Lolo also began to gaze at Student 2 with anticipation.
Student 2, lost in thought while sipping on cold water, suddenly noticed the attention directed at them and hastily lowered the cup. Then, they struggled to speak up.
“…I’m Ren. Nice to meet you.”
“Ren got chosen as a special apprentice just like me! He’s called a prodigy at the shrine! So amazing! Awesome!!”
What…? Scratch that about Lolo radiating priest-like energy. Ren, with tired-looking sky-blue hair resembling the clear sea, turned out to be a prodigy at the shrine after finishing his introduction. Even Ren’s gaze was now naturally fixed on me, along with everyone else’s.
“Ahaha… I’m… Keisha. I’m studying abroad from the elf folk.”
As I finished my introduction, Alfie and Lolo enthusiastically applauded.
“I actually knew that already! Anyone can tell that Keisha is an elf! So mysterious and beautiful!”
“And Keisha has an angelic heart too! She rescued me when I was in trouble! Thank you so much!”
“Haha… Thank you, everyone.”
Ren just shrugged and then turned away. Yeah, I get it—his exhaustion. I totally get it.
Still, I felt a bit more relaxed. It’s been a while since I’ve just laughed and chatted like this. Maybe it’s okay to enjoy it a little?
“It was so much fun! Are you all going back to the dorm?”
“Ah, you guys go ahead. I have some more things to take care of.”
I decided to let my slime companions go back first. I need to find some clues or anything that might help.
“Alright! See you later then!”
Alfie and his friends left first. As I look around, I realize that the alleyways are now lit up with streetlights. Somewhere in this seemingly peaceful empire was the person who had framed me.
Rai had told me to find the place where it all began. The beginning of everything…Could it be the royal warehouse? Or…?
‘Huh…?’
That’s when I noticed Dito’s Emporium. Suddenly, a thought struck me. Could the starting point of everything actually be Dito’s Emporium, even before the warehouse?
I had assumed the warehouse was the starting point because that’s where the incident began. But come to think of it, the only person who knew I went to the warehouse was Dito. It might be worth checking first.
I opened the door to the emporium and stepped inside. Towards the far end, I caught sight of Dito’s back, seemingly shuffling and organizing boxes.
I walked up and waved at him, and he turned around in surprise.
“Oh, you startled me!”
Why so surprised? There was definitely something there.
