I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 44
That 100 gold coin was pretty heavy. If it weren’t for the magic pouch, I would have exploded with muscle mass carrying a million gold.
‘Even the nobles from mining families don’t usually spend more than 10 gold on their banquet attire.’
“…If you had told me your budget in advance, I could have offered better recommendations. Feel free to choose. Or rather, please take your pick.”
“No. Didn’t you hear me? It’s an important day, so how can I possibly buy clothes here? It’s beneath my status.”
“Be…beneath your status? Are you saying our shop’s clothes are beneath your status?!”
“You heard me. Let’s go, guys.”
“Wha…?! Oh! Alright, Keisha!”
“Alright! Let’s go!!”
I strutted out of the store, holding a giant 100-gold coin in my hand the whole way. As I stepped out, I could hear the shop owner tossing the dusting cloth inside. Yeah, go ahead, clean the dust.
“…Huh…?”
But as I stepped away from the store, I noticed a passerby in a black cloak walking a bit further away.
“A black cloak…?”
Must be my mood. Black cloaks are common attire.
“Keisha, then what about the dress?”
“Well… I know a good merchant. I’ll buy it and catch up. You guys go ahead. You need to prepare too.”
“Really?! Got it!”
“Got it! See you at the party!”
My friends rushed off cheerfully. Now I needed to get a dress… I mentioned knowing a merchant but…there’s only really one that I know well.
Without hesitation, I headed straight for Dito’s Emporium. As I opened the door and stepped in, Dito, who seemed half asleep, lifted his head.
“It’s you… Need something?”
“Do you sell dresses?”
“…Dresses? Hmm… I have a few. Wait a moment.”
Dito went into the warehouse and emerged shortly after with several dresses. They were all outrageous, to say the least.
“Here, from left to right, we’ve got the Enchanting Abyss Dress, Mirage Web Dress, and the Pure Feather Dress. Each one is quite precious.”
“Enchanting Abyss Dress… Mirage Web Dress… Pure Feather Dress… Do you have something a bit more ordinary?”
Black market indeed. Every dress Dito presented was extraordinary. All of them were amazing, even one that I hadn’t even seen in gameplay. Some were made entirely of leather and lace, others of fishnets.
‘What’s with this last Feather Dress? Isn’t it just a bird costume?’
Interestingly, that particular dress lacked feathers on the bottom as if the designer had been inspired by a bird’s legs. It was a look that made me wonder if it was a deliberate design choice.
“I suppose none of these are normal dresses, are they?”
Dito snorted. “You’re right, but do you really expect a normal one from me?”
Still, is there nothing at all? I’d rather not spend money at the town’s dress shop, and I can’t commission a designer for the party tonight. If these are the only options I have…
“Hmm… If you’re looking for something relatively ordinary, I guess I might have one that could work.”
Muttering to himself, Dito went into the inner storeroom and emerged shortly after with a dress. The sky-blue lace dress, matching my hair color, had an understated yet elegant design. Even the few pearls adorning the neckline were relatively understated. Perfect.
“This is it. I’ll take this one.”
“Wait, you can’t buy this…”
“Why?”
“Well, it’s not for sale, actually. This dress actually belongs to someone else, left as collateral”
“But why show it if it’s not for sale?”
“Well, I guess I could lend it for a while.”
“Would it really be okay?”
“It should be fine. They haven’t come back for it in ten years.”
“…Okay, got it. I’ll just try it on quickly and return it.”
I loosely folded the dress over my arm. I had to rush if I wanted to make it to the banquet on time.
