I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 5
‘Does it not matter? What could that possibly mean?’
With curiosity swirling in my mind, Rai gently tapped my inquisitive head and slipped a small note around my ankle.
“Please, Coo,” he implored.
His beautiful eyes traced an exquisite pattern in the air. To think that he was revealing a smile to me, one he had never shown to any other human we had encountered here.
‘Maybe being a messenger bird isn’t so bad after all? …….’
As I was thinking this ridiculous thought, Rai’s large hand gently picked me up and tossed me into the sky.
“Wait a moment. I don’t even know what you’re asking of me!”
Just then, a translucent window appeared before my eyes.
[An event from Rai! What action will you take?
- Fly to the destination to deliver the note.
- Land on the ground and nibble on some ants.
- Go on strike. Return to Rai.]
……Clearly, the most favorable option would be number 1, right? Without hesitation, I selected option 1.
[Congratulations! Rai Sherfied’s affection towards you has increased by 0.05!]
‘Alright… It’s better than before, so let’s be happy.’
As my body soared skyward, it automatically began to glide in a certain direction. I flew high.
Thanks to the clear, cloudless winter weather, the landscape stretched out before me in all its clarity. Roads radiated out from the central garden, leading to various districts. If my memory served me right, the south was likely the shopping district, the east the residential area of the nobles, the west the domain of the Royal Academy, and to the north, the imperial palace.
Rai’s tower was situated beyond the city’s outer walls, nestled in the eastern mountain range. And I was flying directly north. That means… the destination is the imperial palace, isn’t it?
As expected, my body gently alighted on a high windowsill of the palace after a while, settling on a prepared landing pad. As I sat on the lavish landing pad adorned with golden decorations, I heard footsteps from behind.
“Your Highness, the messenger bird has arrived.”
A man who appeared to be a butler was hastily removing the note from my ankle when I heard a voice behind me.
“What’s all this fuss about?”
A cynical tone. I wondered who it could be.
“……I’ll take a quick look.”
The butler opened the note and skimmed it quickly.
“Your Highness, the note says…….”
The butler was about to read the note when the man’s voice interrupted.
“Best wishes, Your Highness, I’m sure it’s …….”
His Royal Highness……?” I whirled around. Dazzling blond and gray eyes. It was him.
‘When I’m with you, I can forget everything for a little while.’
The angel with those clear eyes, who always wore a gentle expression and a milky-white smile……
“Unpleasant.”
……Huh?
“I’ll think about it myself.”
I watched, stunned, as cynicism crept into the face that had always worn a benevolent smile. The crown prince approached with a sullen expression and flicked my head with his index finger. Someone who can use teleportation magic, yet takes a carriage and uses a carrier pigeon… I don’t like any of this.”
As the listening creature, I cringed in shock. What’s going on? Who are you? I want my Crown Prince back.
“From what I’ve heard, the Tower Lord prefers traditional methods that don’t involve magic……”
“It’s precisely that part that makes me uncomfortable. The Tower Lord prefers methods that don’t involve magic… That’s…”
Edin, with a thoughtful pause, cast a sidelong glance at the butler.
“The arrogance of the powerful.”
I shivered at Edin’s cold expression.
“Mina, what kind of world do you live in? It’s probably as refreshing as you, I imagine.”
A blurry image of the kind face that used to smile in the wind came to mind.
“Alright…it’s time to go.”
Edin said with a small sigh. Then he glanced back at me and said, annoyed.
“Feed that thing and send it back. No need to write back.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
The servant bowed, Edin left the room, and I was treated to a slightly more varied selection of dried worms.
I thought about it, but couldn’t bring myself to eat them. If I continued like this, I feared I might die not from a failed mission but from starvation.
