I Transmigrated as my Bias's Messenger Bird - Chapter 7
‘What do you mean a monarch?’
I have no idea what they’re talking about.
“…Monarch? I don’t know who you are, but I’m not ready to…”
“You’re too late. We’ve been waiting.’
A man, gripping my body firmly by his right hand, began to walk. Even in the midst of being held and moved, I was captivated by the sights that laid before my eyes.
On one side, there were people tending to horses with wings, and on the opposite side, I saw others busy doing some kind of training. What was intriguing was that each of them had pointed ears, and their youthful faces made it difficult to gauge their ages. What on earth was this? I had never encountered beings like this in the game.
While I was lost in thought, the man had led us to a vast hall. The ceiling, reminiscent of interwoven tree branches, was adorned with numerous lantern-like objects, casting a soft yellowish light. At the center of it all, there was a throne that resembled the shape of a pearl within a shell, and someone was seated upon it.
The man, holding me in his hand, knelt before the throne with a respectful gesture.
“Your Majesty, I have brought Keisha.”
“Thank you, Ventus. Bring Keisha over here.”
The voice belonged to a young woman, but there was an air of authority in her tone. Ventus, the eagle-like man I had been traveling with, placed me in front of the throne. In response, the woman addressed as the Monarch slowly rose from her seat and approached me. She gently enveloped me with both of her hands.
Slowly, the face of the monarch was revealed. The first thing that caught my eye were her crimson eyes, much like Ventus’s. Following that, her dazzling, flowing platinum hair and the crown placed atop it.
As I gazed in wonder at the crown, crafted from vibrant tree branches and flowers, I heard a faint gasp of amazement.
“Of course…”
The Monarch’s gentle hand stroked my head. A moment later, a strange smile crossed her lips.
“You are not Keisha.”
“Your Majesty! Is that possible? Clearly, you must be mistaken…”
As Ventus was about to protest, the Monarch raised her hand to silence him, her crimson eyes piercing through me.
“How long has it been since you’ve been in this body?”
“Well, I… um, I just woke up like this, and it hasn’t been long…”
“I see.”
“Um…”
The monarch smiled. It was a beautiful smile. But instinctively, I craned my neck, sensing an indescribable energy. Power. This was the kind of energy only the strong could possess.
“As you have inhabited Keisha’s body, you’ll need to live Keisha’s life for the time being.”
“…Is that possible?”
At my question, the Monarch’s eyes bored right through me.
“You must make it possible.”
“Yes.”
I answered instinctively. I just knew. That I shouldn’t mess with her.
“Good.”
The lady smiled.
“We will offer some help in challenging moments.”
“Thank you.”
“First… we should deal with this issue, right?”
The lady’s fingers gently brushed through my feathers.
“What’s going on? What issue are we dealing with?”
At that moment, as always, a transparent window popped up with the usual sound effects.
[The Monarch of Regia has bestowed a blessing upon you! Please choose your reward!
-
- Shapeshifting Skill – Any attempt to shapeshift into a pigeon has a 100% chance of success. However, you will be randomly half-transformed or untransformed. *You can transform only your head or only your body, and you cannot fly if your body is humanoid.
- Half-and-Half Transformation Skill – When attempting to transform or revert to a pigeon, you have a 50% success rate, but it will be a complete transformation or reversion. If you fail, nothing will happen. However, after acquiring the skill, there is a low probability of an automatic transformation or reversion occurring.]
I blinked in confusion for a moment. Was this really a blessing? Not a curse?
Specifically, option 1 sounded incredibly bizarre. I felt dizzy as I imagined myself in front of Rai with a human body but a bird’s head. I’d rather be dead…
Honestly, I had no choice but to choose option 2, even though I was irritated by the fact that I was given a choice. So, I quickly selected option 2.
[Congratulations! You have acquired the skill.]
[The Monarch’s blessing has been applied. You now have a probabilistic magical immunity effect.]
Blessing effect… probabilistic magical immunity… alright, this comes in handy at some point…
“I hope it will be of help to you.”
The lady smiled, truly intimidating.
“Yes, thank you.”
“When it comes to Keisha’s life, consult with Ventus.”
“Sure.”
The Monarch gently placed me on the ground, and I tried to walk confidently while hiding my nervousness. Of course, as a bird, even walking confidently resulted in very short strides, and Ventus, who seemed impatient, lifted me up with a disgruntled “Ugh.”
“My lady, I’ll take my leave now.”
“Of course, please take care.”
A gentle voice echoed through the hall. I wondered about the Monarch’s true identity. I took a deep breath with that thought in mind. For now, I needed to focus on adapting to this new body.
