I Want To Die One Day Before You - Chapter 121
Rufus and Sarubia were some distance away from Iruel and Odr, so the words exchanged between them could not be heard. However, it was not difficult to infer the nature of their conversation.
‘He’s been caught, it seems.’
Ever since hearing that Sarubia was a saintess who could see death, Iruel had been worried. Now, the scene unfolding before his eyes was materializing those vague concerns into something much more concrete.
‘He planned thoroughly to kill all the royals, but he didn’t plan to keep it from his own lover?’
Iruel looked down at Rufus with a grumble.
Rufus sat beneath a tree, clinging to Sarubia. Desperation and intense emotion were evident in his actions. Sarubia was soothing him.
‘He can’t move a muscle in front of Miss Sarubia.’
Iruel clicked his tongue shortly. How could a person change so much?
Rufus never said more than necessary to Iruel.
It had always been like that. Thus, there was no emotional exchange. Rufus neither smiled, frowned, nor showed despair in front of Iruel. But it was clearly different with Sarubia.
Rufus freely expressed his emotions in front of Sarubia. It was simply astonishing.
Inadvertently, Iruel had witnessed another human side of Rufus.
‘Even that ruthless villain has emotions properly instilled in him.’
He had thought of him as cold, aloof, and merciless. Someone cruel enough to speak of massacring royals, devoid of blood or tears.
‘He’s just a child.’
For some reason, a part of his heart felt uneasy. There was now one more reason he couldn’t hate Rufus.
‘Damn it.’
Iruel scratched the back of his head needlessly.
He felt a little, just a little, pity for Rufus.
“By the way, I didn’t expect Lord Rufus to bring his lover all the way to the border.”
The witch Odr, sitting cross-legged, sighed lightly.
“What should we do, my son? Should we send you over there?”
“That’s probably best. Seems like everything’s out in the open anyway.”
“That’s true. Well, Lord Rufus will handle it.”
The witch Odr nodded and lowered her broomstick. Beneath the dense bushes, the witch and her son stepped onto the ground.
“Now, my small and cute Iruel. Give me your hand.”
Iruel followed his mother’s command and extended his hand.
The witch Odr pulled something from her pocket.
A ring engraved with the royal seal of Hevania. It was an object imbued with magical power that symbolized the legitimacy of the royalty and proved the bearer’s status as a royal family member.
“From now on, you will be one to be acclaimed.”
The ring was fitted onto Iruel’s finger.
“Everyone will bow to you. Everyone will shout your name in praise and cheer for you, and everyone will line up just to see your face.”
Iruel impassively observed the ring fitted on his finger. True to its royal purpose, it was made of heavy gold and emitted a brilliant, splendid light.
“Iruel, my beloved son.”
The witch Odr placed her finger on Iruel’s forehead.
“You can become the king of humans.”
A faint red light began to emerge under her finger touching Iruel’s forehead.
The witch’s magic began to encircle Iruel’s body. A purple energy slowly swept from his head down to his toes.
“Uh, I feel like I’m going to throw up.”
Behind the purple smoke, Iruel’s strained voice struggled through.
“Endure it.”
The witch Odr smiled gently and flicked her finger once.
“I’m going to cast a very powerful magic on you. Even the most skilled human magician won’t notice, using a very strong transformation spell.”
“Mother, I really think I’m about to throw up…”
“Endure, I said.”
Soon after, the dense magical mist like a thick fog disappeared.
The man standing before the witch Odr was no longer a large man with ashen hair.
The Third Prince of the Hevania Kingdom, Tarek.
The man standing in the middle of the black forest was not the bastard outcast of the Eustice Viscounty, but the noble prince of the Hevania Kingdom.
Iruel inspected his transformed appearance as Prince Tarek.
It was a perfect transformation. No one could have guessed that a man with a witch’s lineage was inside Prince Tarek.
“Indeed, your magic is tremendous, Mother. Ah, I wish I could be reborn as a woman…”
Listening to Iruel’s sigh-filled lament, The witch Odr gave a wry smile.
“Iruel, always carry this with you.”
“What’s this?”
“It’s a magic stone infused with His Majesty the Demon King’s power.”
Iruel’s eyes widened in surprise.
“What? Why are you giving me the Demon King’s magic stone?”
What the witch Odr handed to Iruel was a magic stone about the size of a walnut.
The magic stone was a tool used by demons to store their magical power. The magic stone that the witch Odr now possessed was a precious object imbued with a part of Demon King Audixus.
“Prince Tarek was very powerful in magic. So you should also possess strong magic, shouldn’t you?”
The witch Odr grinned, placing the magic stone in her son’s hand.
“I would like to give you my magic stone, but obviously you can’t use a witch’s magic stone. So, I asked the Demon King instead.”
The witch Odr chuckled.
“I pestered, persuaded, and pleaded with the Demon King, and it was very hard to obtain this item. Keep it safe.”
“Mother…”
Iruel looked at The witch Odr with eyes full of emotion.
The magic stone was like a lifeline created by demons to prepare for times when their magic might deplete. If it was a magic stone from Demon King Audixus, it surely contained powerful magic.
