I Want To Die One Day Before You - Chapter 60
Prince Tarek’s chest swelled with pride as the knights continued to shower him with flattering words.
“It pleases me greatly that my subordinates rely on and esteem me so highly. If only we could celebrate with a toast right now, but alas, it’s a pity.”
“If Your Royal Highness wishes, we shall bring it forth at once!”
No sooner had the Prince spoken than the royal knights pulled out bottles of wine from a sack they had prepared in advance. The other officers’ eyes widened in surprise.
Alcohol within the camp!
They watched Prince Tarek’s expression anxiously, but he showed no intention of reprimanding the knights for bringing in liquor.
“Such preparation, you truly care for me!”
Rather, he exclaimed in satisfaction, praising the knights.
As expected.
‘Like father, like son.’
Rufus thought, a sneer forming on his lips.
Prince Tarek, laughing heartily, passed around cups to everyone seated at the conference table.
“To the victory of the subjugation army!”
As the Prince raised his toast, the other hesitant officers reluctantly picked up their cups.
“To victory!”
Cups clinked, creating a chaotic symphony. The officers’ meeting soon devolved into a drinking session.
“What splendid wine! What kind is it?”
Prince Tarek asked excitedly, emptying his cup in one go.
‘It’s wine sourced from the Inferna domain. Please, enjoy it to your heart’s content.’
Though Rufus thought silently, he did not raising his own cup.
The bottles on the table were originally Rufus’s. Royal knights conducting a baggage check had found the wine in Rufus’s belongings and confiscated all but one bottle.
Rufus wasn’t aggrieved. He had brought the wine expecting it to be seized.
The knights, desperate to avoid fighting the demons, clung to the Prince, doing whatever they could to gain his favor. Naturally, they would have offered the confiscated wine to the Prince.
Rufus had exploited this to his advantage, and everything unfolded as he had anticipated.
“Hmm, just drinking is a bit bland…”
Prince Tarek muttered, emptying his cup.
“We’ll bring some snacks.”
“Not snacks. The atmosphere feels dull, lacking in excitement.”
“In that case…”
“Yes, it’s dull without women! Go and bring some women here.”
Prince Tarek blurted out, gulping down more wine.
As expected.
Top of Form
In Rufus’s memory, Prince Tarek was very similar to Iruel. Both were obsessed with alcohol and women, and both were trash.
The royal knights hurriedly brought women to please the Prince.
Of course, there were no women specifically prepared for entertainment in the camp.
“Did you call for us?”
Those who bowed before Prince Tarek were young female doctors.
Many of the doctors recruited to the subjugation army to tend to soldiers’ injuries were of common birth. The noble-born doctors had avoided a grim fate on the battlefield by bribing their way out of service.
“Hmm.”
Prince Tarek surveyed the faces of the doctors and smiled in satisfaction.
“Not bad at all. Come, you, pour me a drink.”
The doctor who was singled out could not hide her panic.
“Me? But I am here to…”
“Ah! When the Prince commands, you obey, not talk back!” a knight scolded the doctor.
“I’m sorry…”
The frightened doctor reluctantly approached the Prince. Her hands trembled as she took hold of the wine bottle.
Prince Tarek stroked his chin with a satisfied look in his eyes.
“What’s your name?”
“Fer, Fertina.”
“Fertina, is it? Do you have a last name?”
“No, I am a commoner…”
“I see.”
Prince Tarek’s eyes roamed over the doctor named Fertina from head to toe. Under his relentless gaze, Fertina struggled to breathe.
Meanwhile, Prince Tarek, his eyes bright with pleasure, kept emptying his cup.
Soon, the Prince was thoroughly intoxicated.
It was inevitable. Rufus had brought only the strongest and oldest wine from his grandmother’s collection.
He regretted wasting his grandmother’s cherished wine this way, but it served its purpose as Prince Tarek acted exactly as Rufus had anticipated.
“Fertina.”
With a hiccup, Prince Tarek grabbed Doctor Fertina’s hand. She started in surprise and tried to pull away, but Prince Tarek did not let her go easily.
“With such a pretty face, why would you work as a doctor, eh?”
Prince Tarek chuckled, pulling her hand toward him.
“It’s better if you just work in my palace. I’ll take good care of you…”
