I Want To Die One Day Before You - Chapter 71
“Lord Rufus, you’re really sly.”
Sarubia grasped Rufus’s hand that was wrapped around her waist.
“I should have known from the day you proposed to me. Though you seem cold and impassive on the outside, you really lack patience.”
“You know me well.”
Her words were true. He lacked patience. His endurance had already hit rock bottom. Asking him to wait any longer would be nothing short of torture.
His eager lips found hers. He wanted to leave his mark on every part of her that he could reach.
“Ahaha, that tickles.”
Sarubia burst into laughter as his lips brushed her nape.
“Don’t laugh. I’m being serious here.”
“Sorry. But it’s ticklish, I can’t help laughing.”
“You can still laugh in this situation?”
I’m dying to be closer to you right now. It seems like you’re the only one with such leisure, making me rather petulant.
Rufus suddenly lifted Sarubia in his arms, carrying her as he walked. Even then, Sarubia didn’t stop laughing.
“Wahh, I feel like I’m flying! Lord Rufus, this is really fun!”
“You… you used to be so innocent.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Never mind. As long as you’re happy, that’s what matters.”
Rufus headed towards a tree in the center of the garden.
A towering tree rose high. So majestic in size that it seemed like the clouds flowing in the sky might get caught in its lofty branches.
This sycamore tree, planted by the first Baron Inferna, had withstood hundreds of years.
“The tree is huge. How old could it be?”
“You’re curious about the tree’s age now?”
Rufus grumbled as he sat Sarubia down beneath the tree.
“Sorry. Should I not be laughing now?”
“Yes.”
Rufus caressed Sarubia’s cheek.
“Just focus on me for now. Only me.”
Sarubia responded with a mischievous smile to his almost pleading request.
“Then let me make you focus on me.”
“What do you mean?”
“It means you don’t have to hold back now.”
Sarubia whispered softly, playing with Rufus’s hand.
“After all, it’s just a dream.”
It was an irresistible proposition. Rufus’s lips covered Sarubia’s, his body pressing tightly against hers as he traced her lower lip.
“It’s ticklish…”
“Is it just ticklish?”
Rufus pushed his tongue into Sarubia’s slightly parted mouth, licking her soft flesh several times, eagerly seeking every crevice. A hot, tender sensation took over her mouth.
Overwhelmed by the ceaseless kisses, Sarubia’s head spun. Her breath grew heavy, blurring her vision.
“Lord Rufus, could you… s-slow down a bit?”
“I can’t.”
Rufus tilted his head, capturing Sarubia’s lips more deeply. The heated kiss grew increasingly intense.
“Touch me here too… And here.”
Sarubia guided Rufus’s hand to her cheek.
“Do you know? Your hands are cool and feel so good.”
Looking into Sarubia’s eyes, Rufus couldn’t hold back any longer.
He kissed her several times more.
His mind grew hazy with her delicate movements. Desperate to feel more of her, he touched everywhere he could.
He was happy.
To monopolize the attention of Sarubia, usually so full of playful mischief, filled him with joy.
“Sarubia, tell me please. Do you love me?”
As Rufus entwined his fingers with hers, he asked.
“Lord Rufus, could something like this be done with someone you don’t love?”
With a question answering his own, Rufus let out a ragged laugh.
He looked into her eyes.
Beautiful eyes, shining like gold.
Never clouded with the last breath of death, bursts of rage, or curses born of deep hatred.
Eyes that had never harbored any of humanity’s filthy outbursts. So radiant that he couldn’t bear to look at them for long.
Rufus spoke in a low voice.
“Sarubia… I’m a ruined man. Yet, do you still love me?”
“Ruined? What do you mean?”
Sarubia tilted her head slightly in confusion.
Rufus, almost involuntarily, turned his head away. He couldn’t bear to look at her directly.
