Even without hearing his words, Agatha could read his intentions through his eyes.
“You finally woke up. You were lying so still, I was worried.”
Cain said, his voice steady despite his heavy breathing.
Except for that one moment in the study a month ago when he was inexplicably angry, Cain had always maintained a formal tone with Agatha. Even now, he remained composed, using respectful language.
Yes, she had trusted Cain too easily from the beginning. She believed that someone who could remain calm and respectful in any situation would, if not love her, at least respect her to the end.
But what should she say now? Her emotions were a tangled mess, filling her chest with a chaotic jumble she couldn’t untangle.
This man had deceived her father and lied to her. He had ignored her requests for a conversation, only to suddenly show up, undress his drugged wife, and force himself on her.
What should she do with this scoundrel?
“…Please move.”
Agatha finally managed to say after a long hesitation.
Seeing his face in the darkness as he held her brought back memories of nights in Arta. How ironic.
It had been over two years.
Cain had changed so much that it seemed like those days were just a dream. Why was he acting this way now? Perhaps it was his cold behavior that had been a dream, and now they were back to the days shortly after their return from Arta.
Confused and unable to think clearly due to the lingering effects of the sleeping pills, Agatha still managed to ask him to move. A thin thread of sanity told her she needed to push him away.
But Cain didn’t budge. When he remained still despite her plea, she gathered all her strength and pushed against him.
His solid, hot, and strong arms felt like unyielding pillars. It was ironic. Though he didn’t yield to her push for even a moment, she felt strangely grateful. Why was she feeling this way?
Agatha realized she had missed Cain ever since they returned from Arta. Despite knowing he hadn’t moved because he didn’t want to stop his advances rather than any reluctance to leave her, she still felt a sense of warmth and familiarity.
She bit her lip hard. She should be slapping him, yet she couldn’t even push him away. It wasn’t just the lingering effects of the drug making it hard to move her limbs; she couldn’t fully lie to her heart either.
“…This is strange.”
This was Cain’s response to her plea. He didn’t seem to believe her words were sincere, and he bent his arms to lower his body back over hers. His torso, which had been a forearm’s length away, was now pressing against her again.
A sigh escaped Agatha’s lips. His firm chest and hot arms enveloped her. This was blatant disregard. He was confident she wouldn’t be able to push him away first.
“Move…!”
This was the first time she had ever shouted at him. The frustration burst out only after she saw the contempt in his eyes. She wasn’t a foolish woman to be deceived and take it quietly.
Agatha began to twist her arms and legs to push Cain away, who was holding her tightly.
“Stop.”
Cain’s voice was chillingly cold. He pressed down her arms and legs, preventing any movement, his whole body radiating strength to suppress her resistance.
“Why is my wife so upset?”
Cain moved so close that their noses almost touched. His breath was hot against her lips.
“I don’t know what I did to offend you.”
His tone was gentle, yet his voice remained endlessly cold. The old naive Agatha might have mistaken his actions for reluctance to part ways with her, just like her own feelings.
“You can punish me later.”
“Move aside, I said…”
Agatha couldn’t finish her sentence.
Cain had covered her entire body, sealing her lips with his. It was a harsh, merciless kiss. There was no love in it; it was closer to violence. It was force used to suppress her resistance.
She shook her head, trying to escape the kiss, but even that was quickly restrained by his firm grip. There wasn’t a single part of her body free from his control.
A metallic taste spread on her tongue. Unable to withstand his brute strength, her delicate lips had torn. How long had they been locked in this kiss?
Cain, perhaps satisfied he had completely subdued her, resumed his movements.
