If You're Being Held Hostage, Wiggle the Carrot! - Chapter 78
Ruby wasn’t surprised to see Leslie in full wolf form. She had something to protect, so she took a deep, calming breath and leapt high to lure her in.
Hop! Ruby landed lightly above the trees, and Leslie looked up at her with a smirk on her face.
Although she boldly swiped her claws towards Ruby, she couldn’t reach her at all. Offended that she had been outclassed by the herbivore, she yelled at Ruby.
“How cowardly of you to avoid a fight!”
Ruby sat still on the branch, looking down at the furious Rezli and muttering to herself.
“What.”
“…What do you mean what?”
Ruby shrugged her shoulders in a deliberately exaggerated gesture and teased Leslie.
“If a carnivore attacks, it’s only natural for an herbivore to run away. Perhaps the fact that Lady Weaver can’t keep up means that her abilities are limited?”
“You, you!”
“Oh my, scary. Looks like you’re angry.”
Ruby’s words made Leslie’s eyes glaze over. She was being humiliated by a damned rabbit.
She trembled and started climbing up the tree, driving her long claws into the wood. Leslie climbed up, her eyes wide and black, and although she was somewhat intimidating, Ruby was also angry.
Dangerous things were scattered all over the Duke’s estate. She needed to inform Ivan quickly, but Leslie misunderstood and attacked without any reason.
Ruby’s crimson eyes grew chilling as she realized that Leslie seemed to want her dead.
Ruby silently looked down, and when Leslie approached, she jumped to the next tree.
“Y-You!”
Leslie, fueled by anger, almost jumped straight down, only to stop herself before moving to the tree where Ruby had jumped.
Then Ruby moved back to the other tree. Thus, an endless game of cat and mouse began.

“It’s already this late, isn’t it?” asked Ivan, rubbing his eyes tiredly.
Still, it had been a peaceful day compared to the days before he met Ruby. He wasn’t harassed by ghosts, had a good night’s sleep, and even had breakfast with her.
When his parents left the mansion to travel, he used to dine alone. He never thought of it as lonely, but now that there was someone sitting across from him, his perspective had changed.
Now he couldn’t imagine eating alone.
“Well, let’s call it a day for now.”
“Yes, my Lord.”
“Don’t neglect your preparations for the meeting tomorrow.”
“Yes, sir.”
With the aides’ answers, Ivan rose from his seat. As he hurried out of the office, he wondered where Ruby would be hanging out again today.
Well, in fact, he couldn’t forget her friendly interaction with the male wolves a few days ago.
Fierce looking, but friendly. To have such loyalty from the naturally aloof male wolves in just one day…no, just a few hours.
That made Ivan impatient.
Not knowing why he felt so restless, he found himself heading down to personally bring back the small rabbit shifter.
Many eyes followed him as Ivan made his way to the ground floor. He was used to the stares, especially from females, but today they were particularly annoying. Perhaps one of the maids in the mansion had caused some trouble recently, and that might be the reason for the discomfort.
Thinking about it, Liam quickly approached him. “Are you looking for something, my Lord?”
