Irene Decided to Die - Chapter 126
It was the time when the sun had set and night was approaching. Everyone had finished their evening meals and was preparing to rest.
Yet, she came to see him at this time.
“Please show her to the reception room for now.”
He then changed clothes and headed to the reception room, where Ramiel was pacing anxiously.
“Sage!”
“Ramiel, what brings you here at this hour?”
“Did you hear the news?”
“What news are you talking about?”
“The news that Shah-Naz has been imprisoned! Everyone is outraged by it. He’s not someone who would do that!”
Her large eyes, filled with tears, looked at Sage. Normally, he would have approached to comfort her, but strangely, his body recoiled at the sight.
“Sage?”
It came to him then. When the headaches had worsened. The truth, which he had tried to ignore because he liked Ramiel, now came closer.
“Ramiel.”
“Yes?”
“You, what has happened to you?”
The headache he had subdued with medicine began to surge back.
“What do you mean?”
“Ramiel, are you truly Ramiel?”
“Why are you saying that?”
“Well.”
His words got stuck. To think she looked beautiful even while crying in this situation showed just how deeply he was ensnared.
Sage raised his hand and slapped his own cheek. The stinging pain seemed to bring a bit of clarity back.
“I need to see High Priest Roxon.”
“Why the High Priest?”
“I haven’t seen him recently.”
“That’s because he’s busy. But if I ask, he’ll meet you.”
The conversation was a jumble. The Cold Knowledge, once praised for his cleverness, now wouldn’t function.
“But first, promise me.”
Ramiel extended her hand as she approached.
“That you will cooperate with me.”
“Cooperate?”
“Sage, I have learned the truth. The one above us is not the goddess. It is a false entity.”
“Are you insane?”
“I’m not insane. High Priest Roxon supports my view. And it’s not just him; many other priests are with me.”
“Ramiel.”
It seemed that his girl Ramiel had despaired over not becoming the Saintess and fallen into corruption.
“Get a grip!”
“I’m perfectly sane. Absolutely fine. You’re the one with the problem, Sage. I don’t understand why you’re resisting when everyone else isn’t.”
“Ramiel!”
“Now, shh. Sage, it’s me, Ramiel. The person you like. Just entrust everything to me and close your eyes. Then your heart will be at ease.”
As if that could be true. Sage struggled desperately, but it was useless. The strength of a powerful king felt futile before Ramiel now.
‘No.’
It wasn’t that Ramiel was stronger than him now. Ramiel had been slowly influencing Sage for a long time. Realizing it was too late.
Sage’s eyes gradually closed. At some point, his consciousness sank deep.
“I am so glad that Sage chose to stay by my side.”
Holding Sage, Ramiel smiled with satisfaction.

[Camille.]
The goddess, upon arriving at the central temple, sought her child without hesitation.
“I knew you would come.”
Camille stood up with a smile. Then she stepped into the air, ascending upward.
[What a pitiable child.]
“Could you stop calling me ‘child’? What kind of parent seals away their own child?”
[You were too wicked to let roam free.]
“Yeah, everything’s always my fault. Well, fine. I’ve accomplished my goal anyway. Do you know why I stayed cooped up in this temple? It was all to lure you here.”
[I knew.]
“You came anyway, knowing that? You’re pretty confident. But this time, I’ve won.”
With a snap of her fingers, the temple began to glow with a strange light.
Before the goddess’s arrival, Camille had enchanted the priests, using them to turn the temple itself into a sealing tool. Of course, she lacked the power to seal the goddess alone, so she sought aid from various artifacts.
Some of these artifacts were created and spread by the goddess herself, while others had been gifts to Camille.
[Camille!]
“Are you finally getting desperate? I’ve always hated that condescending look of yours.”
The goddess gazed at Camille with a sorrowful look. She began to exert her power, but Camille, who was thoroughly prepared, resisted successfully.
Even so, she had to do everything she could. The goddess resisted tenaciously and succeeded in weakening Camille’s power.
But in doing so, she also exhausted herself and fell asleep, just as Camille intended.
“Hahaha, in the end, I won, didn’t I?”
Camille laughed, spreading her arms wide. Now, all that was left was to eliminate the Saintess, and the world would be hers.
