Irene Decided to Die - Chapter 150
“The beacon is lit.”
Now, all they had to do was wait for someone to notice it.
“Hey, look over there.”
One of the soldiers standing guard outside the Western Kingdom’s castle spotted the flame.
He immediately informed a knight, who then relayed the news to Aura.
“The beacon has been lit.”
That was the signal for help. With a clear reason to act, Aura quickly stood up.
“From now on, we prepare.”
The plan with Burt had already been discussed. Once the beacon was lit, the infiltrator they had placed inside would open the gates.
Aura’s job now was to get ready to charge in as soon as the gates were opened.
The holy knights, seeing the fire, were about to leave.
“Wait! What are you going to do next?”
The two men glanced at each other, unsure. Adlen threw off her hood in front of them.
“Tell me!”
“Adlen!”
The knights briefly showed surprise at the sight of the ominous symbol but that was all. They displayed no hostility toward Adlen.
“The next step is to open the castle gates.”
“From here? How long will that take?”
“Our comrades are already on their way.”
“So what are you going to do?”
“We need to save as many people as possible.”
Once again, they crossed themselves over their chests.
“In the name of the goddess.”
“Then I’ll come too!”
“It’s dangerous, Adlen.”
“I owe my life to the Saintess. I can’t just sit back and hide. Right, Eugene?”
“If you get hurt, Diana will be devastated.”
“Then I just won’t get hurt! Come on, let’s go together!”
Adlen reached out to Eugene, and as always, Eugene couldn’t refuse Adlen’s hand.
“Let’s go!”
With determination, they surged forward.

The knight watching the gates through a telescope spoke.
“The gates have opened.”
A courier who had run from elsewhere spoke.
“The kings of the North and East have arrived!”
“The knights from the temple have also been sent!”
“Then there’s no need to hesitate any longer. Move forward!”
The gathered forces began to advance. Even though they had only sent their elite, the combined armies of three nations were vast.
Priests walking alongside them continuously bestowed blessings upon the soldiers.
“Dad.”
A child hiding at home, watching the scene, called out to his father.
“Look at that.”
The sight of the soldiers advancing with such grandeur reminded them of the old stories his grandfather used to tell. The humans marching to defeat the demons, with kings and the saintess leading them. The past was playing out in the present.
“Oh, goddess.”
Out of habit, the man crossed his chest and held his child tightly.
At first, they had feared and distrusted the sudden appearance of the army, but now they understood. These were people who had come to destroy the evil lurking within.
“Are they heroes?”
“Yes, they are indeed heroes.”
The two watched in awe as the army advanced endlessly, letting out words of admiration.

Before long, word of what was happening outside reached Ramiel, who was gazing down at the now-empty garden.
“The gates have opened!”
A knight with a pale, terrified face shouted at Ramiel. He had once been a strong knight of the West but had been swayed to her side through careful manipulation.
“Saintess, what should we do?”
“It’s alright. Calm yourself. There is still a king here. Look at this.”
Ramiel gestured towards the large cocoon growing inside the room.
“The king will awaken soon. We just need to wait a little longer.”
“Yes, I understand.”
The knight, finally calming his panic, stood beside Ramiel.
“It’s a beautiful sight.”
“Isn’t it?”
Perhaps the knight saw something different than what Ramiel did. But what did that matter?
Ramiel smiled softly.
Sage had tried to resist until the very end, but in the end, he could not overcome the power bestowed upon her by the goddess. He had been sealed inside the cocoon. But it was fine.
The cocoon began to tremble violently—a sign that a new king was about to be born.
“Come out, Sage.”
The cocoon split open, and out stepped a tall man with skin that was an unnatural shade of blue. He was gaunt, and blood tears streamed continuously from his eyes.
It was said that those bitten by a vampire would become undead, known as ghouls. And the one who created these ghouls, the vampire, was known as the King of Ghouls.
“Let me introduce you. This is the King of Ghouls.”
Ramiel, satisfied, clasped her hands around her face in delight.
