Irene Decided to Die - Chapter 154
“In the East?”
“The central lands are still quite chaotic. And since you’ve been through so much, I believe you need some time to rest. The East is ideal for recuperation.”
Irene blinked, looking at Guy, who continued speaking.
“The weather isn’t too cold, nor is it too hot. It’s pleasantly warm, and there’s a festival coming up soon. Have you ever attended a festival in the East?”
“No, I haven’t.”
“You would enjoy it. There are performers, actors, and all kinds of food to try.”
Guy had spent most of his childhood locked away. He claimed it had been since he was ten, but even before that, he rarely left his home due to the stigma of his ominous symbol.
It didn’t seem like he would know much about festivals.
‘So, he’s studied about them.’
The way he spoke so naturally, as if he had experienced it all firsthand, was oddly endearing. Especially considering his appearance and build didn’t match that impression at all.
“What else is there besides the festival?”
“You can take a boat ride on the lake. There’s a large lake inside the city, and it’s quite popular. Or perhaps visiting the bustling market streets would interest you.”
Just as Irene’s heart began to sway, another guest arrived. This time, it was Aura.
Aura scanned the room and smiled awkwardly.
“It seems I’m late.”
“Is Aura here for the same reason?”
“If it’s about recovering in the South, then yes, it’s the same.”
“Isn’t the South too hot?”
Guy launched a verbal attack on Aura!
“That’s what makes it fun. The warm weather allows all kinds of fruits to ripen beautifully. If you taste the fruits that only grow in the South, you’ll be more than satisfied. Or you could visit the desert. Riding camels across the sands, then resting at an oasis sounds delightful, doesn’t it?”
“I don’t think sand is good for one’s health.”
This time, Burt chimed in.
“Or perhaps watching monkeys harvest fruit would be interesting?”
“Monkeys?”
“I heard you missed them last time. We’ll host you warmly, so please come to the South.”
“No, no. The East is far more comfortable.”
“Irene.”
With all the suggestions pouring in at once, Irene felt dizzy.
How should she respond? While she was pondering, yet another person entered. This time, it was Allen.
“Sir Allen!”
Maybe he would rescue her from this dilemma. But that hope was short-lived.
“Talking about rest? Not a bad idea.”
Allen agreed with the kings.
“But since visiting all three would be too much, it seems you’ll have to choose just one.”
They were already talking as if she had decided to go, even though she hadn’t said a word about agreeing to rest.
“Very well. I’ll try my best to decide. But I assume Sir Allen didn’t come here just to talk about resting?”
“No, there are people who wish to see you. Their names are Adlen and Eugene. Since they mentioned Diana, I allowed them to pass. Would you like to meet them?”
“Yes, I would!”
Come to think of it, there was the issue of finding a proper place for those marked by the ominous signs. They couldn’t be kept in that small village deep in the mountains forever. It seemed difficult to even procure enough food there. More importantly, there were children involved.
“We’ll continue the discussion about rest later.”
After sending away the three kings, Irene went to meet Adlen with Allen.
“Saintess~!”
Adlen waved her hand energetically. Eugene smacked her hard on the back and bowed deeply.
“It’s an honor to meet you, Saintess.”
“You don’t have to be so formal.”
“No, we must. If we don’t, this fool will keep acting up. Please remain strict with her.”
Eugene declared firmly.
“I’ve heard that you were of great help in fighting the ghouls this time.”
“Eugene was the one who lit the beacon!”
“Why are you so proud of something I did?”
The two started bickering as usual. But their playful exchange only confirmed their bond, and it wasn’t unpleasant to watch.
“If you did it, it’s the same as if I did!”
Irene burst into laughter at the amusing scene, and they both quieted down, finally behaving.
“I’m not usually like this, you know.”
“Who are you kidding? You’ve always been like this, Eugene.”
“Shut up, Adlen!”
Since Irene was laughing, Allen didn’t bother to point out their lack of manners.
“I actually wanted to meet with you again.”
“For what reason?”
“For the village.”
Irene sat down and looked at them.
“Have you considered moving your village?”
“We’d love to, but we haven’t found a suitable place.”
“If there’s a good place, would you be willing to move?”
“We’d gladly go.”
“Good. Then we’ll relocate the village. I’ll find a suitable location and even arrange jobs for you.”
At Irene’s words, Adlen’s eyes widened in surprise.
