Irene Decided to Die - Chapter 93
“Observers are not needed. I want to talk with you alone.”
Irene looked up at Burt, wondering if it was alright, and he nodded. It meant it was okay.
Well, considering the commotion they caused, they couldn’t have done otherwise.
“Alright.”
Irene decided to step back for a moment. Thus, the brothers had some time alone.
“What are you thinking?”
It was Garan who spoke first.
“What do you mean, what am I thinking?”
“There must be a reason why you came all the way here instead of staying quietly in the tower.”
“A reason, a reason.”
Guy scoffed. Was he really asking because he didn’t know, or was he asking despite knowing?
“I don’t think I need to live in hiding anymore.”
“Because of the saintess?”
“You should call her Lady.”
“I will call her whatever I want.”
“Still, she is the one who represents this world.”
“Are you lecturing me now, calling yourself my brother?”
“Do you even consider me your brother?”
Shadows began to stir again at their feet.
“Go back while I’m being nice. That’s the only way to prolong your miserable life.”
“I said no.”
“It’s been years since I ascended to the throne. Do you think you’ll have a chance now? Do you think the saintess will put you on the throne?”
“I would gladly accept her help if Lady Saintess offered it, but I’m not relying solely on that. It was the same in the past, Garan. You’ve never once beaten me.”
Garan’s anger flared up from within at Guy’s words. That anger also extended to the saintess waiting outside.
Despite treating her sincerely, it seemed she didn’t understand her place.
Otherwise, this wouldn’t be happening.
Even if Burt was here, if the remaining three kings united, they could imprison Guy in the depths immediately. How fearless he was.
“It seems you’re plotting something bad.”
Guy muttered as he looked at Garan.
“Whatever I’m thinking.”
“If the younger brother has bad intentions, the elder brother should correct him.”
“Stop talking nonsense!”
Garan’s force approached Guy but was stopped.
“Nonsense? Speak properly.”
Guy knew how to effectively irritate Garan. Even when their mother was alive, he often behaved this way.
Not all those in a weak position are entirely good. Guy was no different.
In the end, he was the same kind of snake as Garan. Just a snake with a bit more human sentiment.
“It seems we won’t see eye to eye.”
“It was never going to.”
“Then let’s end this conversation here.”
Guy spoke calmly and turned his back.
Garan wanted to attack him right then and there, but he restrained himself, knowing it would be blocked again.
“Is the conversation over?”
“Yes, Lady Saintess.”
Guy answered with a smile and took the saintess’s hand, kissing the back of it.
“Besides, it seems the welcoming party is not over yet. Shall we return?”
“I’m alright.”
“But you haven’t enjoyed it properly, have you?”
“I didn’t particularly want to enjoy it anyway.”
Irene said with a light laugh.
“Let’s return to your quarters. Will you join us, Guy?”
“I will look for the room I used to stay in a long time ago.”
“What if you can’t stay in that room?”
“I’m still a royal bloodline, surely there’s a room for me.”
“There’s no room for you!”
Garan growled, but Guy neatly ignored him. He then parted ways with Irene and headed to the annex located on one side of the palace.
Some knights stood in his way with troubled expressions, but since they didn’t attack, passing through wasn’t difficult.
Garan had ordered them to stop Guy.
However, the person in question was with Lady Saintess. Moreover, despite having black hair, he was of royal blood, so they couldn’t touch him recklessly.
‘It’s a good story for me.’
Although the welcoming party was not yet over, rumors spread quickly. Guy leisurely walked to the old, neglected annex in the corner.
The palace was so dilapidated it could be called abandoned. The entrance was covered in cobwebs, and the floor was strewn with dust and dry leaves. It wouldn’t be surprising if a mouse scurried out from somewhere.
Guy walked through the dirty corridor.
‘Guy.’
As he walked, it felt as if his mother might appear and call his name.
‘But that won’t happen.’
Guy turned a familiar corner and arrived at his room.
This room, too, was completely neglected. When he opened the creaking door, the room of a young boy came into view.
