Irene Decided to Die - Chapter 96
Garan proceeded with his plan. The word was that he attacked Guy on his way back after meeting another noble alone.
Guy visits a noble’s mansion on the outskirts, making his way through a secluded area, and that’s where Garan appears. Of course, he wasn’t alone.
‘Pride can come later.’
First, it was crucial to deal with Guy. Guy dismounted leisurely, sending his horse away with a slap on its rear.
“Garan.”
“Don’t call my name with that filthy mouth.”
“Filthy? That’s a hurtful thing to say.”
“You can feel hurt?”
“Of course. I’m human too.”
“You’re calling yourself human?”
Garan sneered, curling his lips.
“No, you’re a worm. You were a worm back then, and you still are now.”
As Garan raised his hand, hidden figures emerged in front of Guy.
“How dishonorable.”
Guy mocked, but Garan ignored him.
“Attack!”
The knights Garan had carefully selected lunged at Guy with their swords. With Garan joining the fray, Guy began to struggle.
Before coming here, Garan had instructed his knights to be cautious. They were to threaten and hinder Guy without getting too close, as it might be fatal.
The knights strictly followed Garan’s orders.
How much time had passed? Guy’s movements started to slow. With several opponents, he was gradually wearing down.
Yes, as he said, he was human after all.
The kind of person who can die.
Garan attacked even more fiercely. Guy’s clothes were torn, and blood could be seen flowing through the gaps.
At that moment, something fell softly on Garan’s cheek. He wiped his cheek with his hand and found it wet.
Looking up at the sky in surprise, he saw it was filled with clouds.
The number of falling raindrops increased, and soon it became rain. The rain-making ceremony had been successfully completed.
‘So quickly?’
Garan’s heart grew anxious. Guy was still holding on. Finally, he managed to create a gap among the knights and slipped through.
“See you next time, little brother.”
Guy smiled and bid farewell as he swiftly moved away, blending into the shadows.
‘No!’
Garan gritted his teeth and followed him. He could hear the knights calling out behind him, but he had no time to pay attention to that now.
With Guy wounded, he had to finish him off completely. Who knew when another opportunity like this would come?
‘Foolish swine.’
The foolish commoners, who don’t even realize who allows them to live off this land, easily change their loyalty. And the nobles, who turn away for the slightest gain.
They were all gathering around Guy.
‘I wish I could kill them all.’
He knew he couldn’t do that. But if Guy disappeared, he knew they would change their minds again.
‘You have to die here!’
After running for a long time, Guy finally stopped. It was a small clearing deep in the forest.
“Garan.”
Guy, who had stopped, called out Garan’s name.
“You followed well?”
“Did you think I wouldn’t be able to follow you this far?”
“Yes, I thought you might come this far. Isn’t that right, Lady Saintess?”
At those words, Garan quickly looked around. Soon, he spotted Irene emerging from behind Guy.
‘Stay calm. It’s still alright.’
Garan steadied his voice and spoke.
“Lady Saintess, what brings you here?”
“Well, what do you think?”
Irene smiled as she approached Guy and placed her hand on his body. The deep wounds healed as if time had reversed.
Garan glanced back, but none of his knights had followed. They had lost them along the way.
“Could this be a trap?”
“What if it is?”
“Hahaha, Lady Saintess, you seem to be taking this situation too lightly.”
“What exactly am I taking lightly?”
“Do you think the situation will change just because you’re here?”
While the wounds might have healed, there was no way to replenish the energy already expended. He had never heard of the saintess possessing such a power.
“It might change.”
Irene answered with a gentle smile. In the distance, the howling of wolves could be heard.
“My friends have offered to help me.”
In the dark forest, glowing yellow eyes stared at Garan.
“Are you relying on mere beasts?”
“What if you add me to the mix?”
Guy stepped forward.
Annoying pests. Garan thought as he clenched his teeth.
