Even if they had successfully hidden their support for Solen from the Imperial Family so far, there was no guarantee they wouldn’t be exposed in the future.

“Are you saying you trust him more than us?”

He jabbed a finger at Lionel, snapping.

His tone suggested he was genuinely upset—maybe even offended or betrayed.

But from my perspective, I couldn’t understand why. It wasn’t like the information guild and I had any kind of deep trust between us.

Sure, I was grateful that they had helped Solen behind the Imperial Family’s back, but that didn’t mean I trusted them.

“…Fine. I guess there’s no helping it. Either way, I’ll send a guide.”

“Alright. Thank you.”

“My name is Sirren.”

Just as we were about to part ways, the man introduced himself.

“Next time, call me that.”

I studied the sharp-eyed man for a moment before giving a small nod.

“Alright.”

With that, I turned and walked toward Lionel.

“Shall we go?”

Lionel had said that the purpose of today’s visit was to make his presence known by my side. Since that was accomplished, he had no further business here.

He smiled slightly and, as if inviting me to leave first, held the door open for me.

Just as I stepped outside, a sharper, more threatening swishing sound than before sliced through the air behind me.

Startled, I spun around—only to see Sirren standing there, gripping the blade of a dagger just as Lionel had earlier.

But unlike Lionel, he hadn’t managed to catch it cleanly. Blood was dripping from his palm.

“Uh, uh….”

“This much is nothing.”

Lionel naturally placed his arm around my shoulders and guided me outside. The way he shut the door behind us with a decisive slamming left no room for argument.

…Well, whatever. He’ll take care of it himself.

He was the one who attacked first, after all. When you throw a punch at someone, you should be prepared to take one in return.

We returned to the open clearing where our carriage was waiting, shed our robes, and switched carriages.

The ride back to the duke’s estate was quiet.

There was too much to think about.

Sirren’s stunned expression—his disbelief at how I could possibly trust the Duke of Luanax—lingered in my mind.

I had a feeling my father and brother would react the same way.

Wouldn’t they explode with rage, demanding, “What the hell do you think you’re doing, marrying that man so quickly?!”

‘Hmm….’

I, of course, knew that Lionel wasn’t aligned with the Imperial Family. But that was beside the point—there was no way I could explain that to my family.

How could I possibly convince them that I had memories of a past life? That this world was actually the setting of the fictional novel, A Night of Entwined Serpents?

And what about… the things that had happened between us?

To my father and brother, I’d probably just look like a hopeless fool who had fallen for a handsome face.

‘…I mean, they wouldn’t be entirely wrong.’

Even if Lionel Luanax had no loyalty to the Imperial Family, if he were my father’s age—or if he weren’t this good-looking—I might not have accepted his proposal.

‘Then again… how am I supposed to resist when he looks at me like that…?’

Lionel was bad. It was his fault, absolutely his fault.

Since we had returned to the carriage, I could feel Lionel’s unwavering gaze on me, but I stubbornly kept my eyes fixed on the passing scenery outside.

Because if I met his gaze, my mind would go completely blank, and my heart would race so violently that I wouldn’t be able to think straight.

Before I knew it, the carriage had passed through the main gates of the Luanax estate and was pulling up in front of the central manor.

And standing in front of the entrance were familiar faces.

‘Dantère and Ardin…?’

Naturally, Vivian was with them.

‘What are they doing here…?’

Just as curiosity sparked within me, I witnessed something unexpected— Dantère suddenly grabbed Ardin by the collar.
