Killing the Possessor - Chapter 2
Chapter 1. Surviving as a Possessor
Where did this wave that swept away my old life truly begin?
“Shi-, I’m dead again! Who gave me this useless thing?”
Was it playing a frustratingly difficult game I received as a gift for a ‘Secret Santa event’?
“What’s this? I thought there was a useful strategy against the evil spirits, but in the original story, the innocent male leads take care of everything.”
Or maybe I cheated and flipped through the original novel of the game to progress the story, wanting to avoid dying and get ahead?
Bang!
Or could it be that I didn’t see the truck coming while I was too absorbed in reading that novel, crashing into it at a red light?
I’m not sure what the real cause was. But when I came to, I found myself in the world of the novel-turned-game Saving Possessors.
And the reason I could be sure this was that world was simple.
“My goodness! You’re awake, miss!”
“Wh-where am I? Where have you taken me?”
“…Miss?”
“Why are you dressed like that? And why is my hair like this?”
“Goodness gracious!”
The moment I blurted out the classic line of “Where am I? Who am I?” after being possessed, everything around me seemed to spiral out of control.
The woman who called me “Miss” ran out of the room in tears as I flailed, confused by the unfamiliar, ornate ceiling and the light-colored hair that clearly wasn’t mine.
Until then, I thought I’d been kidnapped by some crazy pervert enjoying a maid cosplay.
But then, a voice cut through my bewilderment.
“What is your name?”
“My name is Kim Saei…”
“Do you know who Dahlia Mute is?”
“No.”
As the scenery remained unchanged and I spoke in an unfamiliar language without even realizing it, a realization dawned on me.
Ah, this isn’t Earth. I’ve been possessed into some fictional world.
Whether it was a side effect of the possession or something else, I had trouble focusing my eyes, and I felt dizzy to the point where I thought I might lose consciousness.
Despite this disorienting condition, I managed to ask around and uncover some facts about the woman I had possessed. At least I learned her name, family, and some basic details.
First, Dahlia Mute. The name that people here kept asking me about. It was, in fact, the identity of this body.
She was the daughter of the woman Count Mute remarried with, and had one half-sister from the previous marriage. The two of them weren’t on the best of terms, and it seemed that the reason Dahlia ended up bedridden was due to a fight where they tugged each other’s hair and fell into a lake.
“What kind of idiots are these?”
I scoffed, feeling like I was watching a trashy drama. The fact that they couldn’t swim and nearly drowned because of a dress was nothing more than a source of mockery for me.
However, before I judged them as fools, I should have reflected on my own actions.
“The priest, Vice, is here.”
Two days after the glasses-wearing man who introduced himself as the butler asked me a series of questions, a priest arrived. He was a handsome man with long green hair tied loosely to one side—something that could never naturally occur on Earth.
Even I, someone who didn’t care for long hair, couldn’t help but be amazed by his appearance. But before I could even properly take in the details of his striking face, the man swiftly approached me and began tying me to the bed.
Of course, I was extremely flustered by this sudden turn of events.
“What the—? We haven’t even properly introduced ourselves, and you’re jumping straight into this kind of bold play…?”
Isn’t the priest a little rough despite his handsome face?
However, before I could even finish the thought, water was suddenly poured over my face, snapping me back to reality. I found myself drenched, looking like a soaked mouse, staring at him in bewilderment.
“Evil spirit!”
The man, holding a holy book in one hand, shouted sternly at me.
“Leave that body immediately!”
…Wait, is he performing an exorcism? Is that holy water he just splashed on me?
“Wait, hold on! I’m—”
“Get out of here!”
“No, I’m—”
I’m not an evil spirit!
I was furious, being falsely accused, my pure soul completely misunderstood. But for some reason, his exorcism had an effect. A flash of light burst before my eyes, and I felt an overwhelming shock, as if lightning had struck my head.
“AAAH!”
