Killing the Possessor - Chapter 35
“Ugh!”
I quickly dodged, and fortunately, I avoided getting hit by any of the furniture scattered around. With a loud crash, the door swung open violently, and the figure of Lady Coreldi, possessed by the evil spirit, appeared.
Her black attire resembling a musical instrument reminded me of the man I saw at Loitri. However, unlike the evil spirit who wielded a black whip-like tendril, Coreldi had multiple translucent arms behind her.
In this situation, with no cover and such close proximity, holding my breath wouldn’t help. I gritted my teeth, watching the evil spirit slowly approach.
Ren Abyss, what are you doing? Isn’t this when the male lead’s pride should come through?
“Yahhh!”
At that moment, the prince, who hadn’t forgotten his role as the male lead, rushed toward the evil spirit, holding a chair above his head.
His courage was admirable, but the problem was that he didn’t have the divine power to face an evil spirit.
“You, too, will become… a wallflower…”
Before the chair could strike the evil spirit’s head, the translucent arms moved first. One of them grabbed the prince by the collar and slammed him against the wall.
“Ugh!”
The prince let out a pained groan and struggled to pry the hand off his neck. But the evil spirit, unaffected by his attempts, continued to squeeze harder without a change in expression.
Even though he’s the male lead, surely he won’t die like this, will he? Should I do something? But I don’t have divine power either… What can I do?
Looking at the prince’s face, I felt that if I hesitated any longer, he might actually lose his breath. In a split-second decision, I grabbed the small table nearby and threw it at the evil spirit.
Thunk. The evil spirit’s grip loosened, and the prince’s body fell to the ground. The evil spirit, who had been struck on the side of the head, slowly turned its head toward me, showing no sign of pain.
“On the first, debutante…”
The evil spirit muttered, cursing under its breath as it looked at me. I quickly started moving my feet, trying to escape, but there was no way to outrun the evil spirit’s hands that stretched and twisted with ease.
“Become, a wallflower, too…”
With a grotesque number of hands gripping my shoulders, I struggled wildly, but it was useless. Just like the prince, the evil spirit pressed me against the wall.
“Camil!”
But then, something strange happened. The wall, which should have been hard, felt strangely soft. As I stood there confused, Lady Coreldi twisted her neck in an unnatural way and muttered.
“How about, haha, now you, too, will become, a wallflower…”
Up until now, I had thought the evil spirit’s words were nonsensical, but at that moment, my thoughts changed.
Could it be that the evil spirit was actually putting people into the wall to make them ‘wallflowers? Like her old nickname?
“Uh, um… I don’t think the ‘wallflower’ part means actually burying someone in the wall…”
If my face were to be buried in the wall, it seemed obvious that my airways would be blocked, whether the wall was solid or gel-like. In a panic, I tried to reason with the evil spirit.
“Beth Coreldi!”
The prince shouted loudly still on the floor.
Hearing her name, the evil spirit paused for a moment but quickly used great force to slam the prince’s head into the wall.
“Ugh!”
“Pr-Prince!”
Fortunately, thanks to the evil spirit’s power to soften the wall, the prince didn’t break into pieces but instead passed through the wall. From the lack of visible blood, it seemed his head wasn’t broken.
“Prince, are you alive?”
“Ha… ha…”
Due to the layout of the room, the wall the evil spirit slammed the prince into connected to another room. Fortunately, the door to that room was open, and the prince’s heavy breathing let me deduce that he was still alive.
As the evil spirit moved away from the prince, its attention shifted back to me. I had a chilling thought that it might block my airway next. But surprisingly, the evil spirit withdrew.
“Wallflower… others… too…”
It seemed the evil spirit’s only goal was to plant people into the walls.
Once the evil spirit left the room, a sigh of relief escaped me. The problem was that my body was still partially embedded in the wall.
