Killing the Possessor - Chapter 37
I glanced at the prince, still proudly flaunting his butt, and then sighed before explaining.
“I’m not a full-fledged wizard, and I tend to struggle when I’m really panicked, so I couldn’t perform well.”
“Is that… Prince Wyner?”
Ren’s brows furrowed as he witnessed the prince’s embarrassing state, which completely disregarded royal decorum.
My own face also scrunched up as I noticed the toned body revealed beneath the prince’s pants. It seemed like an exaggerated trait for one of the male leads. I didn’t remember any scenes like this in the original.
The prince probably didn’t realize the state he was in. In fact, I was kind of relieved that he didn’t.
Meanwhile, Ren sighed knowingly, shaking his head as he approached the prince.
I thought he was going to check on his face in the next room, but instead, he suddenly turned and reached for one of the ceremonial swords hanging on the wall. I was startled as he suddenly unsheathed the blade, and I asked in surprise.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m going to take him out.”
“Are you planning to break the wall? But killing the evil spirit would make everything go back to normal…”
As soon as I spoke, it seemed like the evil spirit was drawn by the sound of its name. A chilling energy swept through the room, and soon, the familiar sight of Coreldi, possessed by the evil spirit, appeared again.
“New, wallflower, must be made…”
It seemed the evil spirit had noticed a new presence and returned. This time, though, it wasn’t as scary since there was someone in front of me who could deal with it.
Ren held his sword steadily without any sign of hesitation, likely preparing to perform the exorcism he had showcased back in Loitri.
While I absentmindedly watched his actions, a sudden red flag went off in my mind. Wait a minute, is it really okay to leave everything to him?
“What’s going on? I thought there might be a strategy against evil spirits, but in the original story, it was always the male leads who handled it.”
In the original, that was true. At least when it came to defeating evil spirits, the male lead’s help was crucial. But what about my stay here? The female still hasn’t been possessed, so what’s my role?
[User’s status temporarily converted to ‘Player’.]
Suddenly, the system message from when I entered the palace flashed in my mind. It definitely said my status was being changed to ‘Player.’ If that’s the case, then it meant some kind of ‘play’ was expected from me.
“Now that I think about it…”
[The evil spirit ‘???’ has begun its hunt.]
At that moment, I remembered how crucial finding clues was in the game. The fact that the evil spirit’s name was marked with a question mark might mean…
“Wait!”
The blade, glowing with a blue light as it tried to strike the evil spirit, suddenly paused. Ignoring Ren’s confused gaze, I urgently shouted toward the prince.
“Wyner, what was Lady Coreldi’s name again?”
“Name? What are you talking about?”
“Hurry!”
“I… I think it was…”
The prince seemed flustered, still unable to recall the name, his words becoming increasingly mumbled.
While Ren slashed the evil spirit’s hand aiming for him with his sword at an alarming speed, he turned to me and asked:
“Are you referring to Beth Coreldi?”
“Is that her full name?”
“I believe it’s Elizabeth Coreldi, but why…?”
There was no time to waste. I shouted desperately to confirm my hypothesis.
“Elizabeth Coreldi!”
At that moment, the evil spirit, which had been attacking Ren, completely froze in place.
As if some kind of magic had been cast, my body tensed along with the surroundings, and suddenly, fog seemed to appear before my eyes, followed by the sensation of my vision flipping upside down.
“Ahh!”
I screamed unknowingly as I felt my body being sucked into a whirlpool. Instinctively, I squeezed my eyes shut and cursed under my breath.
As my head spun, and nausea started to rise, my blurry vision cleared, and familiar scenery appeared in front of my eyes.
“This is…”
I stared at the surroundings in shock, completely dumbfounded by the sudden change.
The bright sunlight streaming through the window, the subtle scent of old wood in the air, the chalk-stained green blackboard, and an older-looking television beside it.
“Look at this, just having fun on your own?”
“Give it back, you crazy idiot!”
And the students, cheerfully running around as expected for their age.
I quickly jumped to my feet looking at the chattering students in school uniform around me.
