Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who's the Witch of Fate’s Great Call - Chapter 51
“There’s no benefit in this for you.”
It was suspicious for him to invite them solely for the purpose of being monitored. Emily pointed this out sharply.
Vylon clicked his tongue in a knowing way.
“Witches possess extraordinary abilities. The more exceptional people a kingdom has, the stronger it becomes.”
The benefits, in his view, were substantial.
“There’s no witch-hunting in the Snow Kingdom.”
Of course, it couldn’t be said that witch hunts had never happened in the past, but at least since he married Kalynia, there hadn’t been a single incident. How could there be a witch hunt when the king’s wife was a witch?
“I can guarantee there’s no other country that treats witches as well as this one does.”
Emily looked at each of her sisters’ faces. Though no one spoke up, it was clear from their expressions that they were already swayed.
Of course, they would be. They’d suffered from witch hunts their entire lives, but here they were told that wouldn’t happen.
The decision was made. Emily realized that, like with Kalynia’s situation, she had been thoroughly defeated by Vylon. She raised her hands in surrender.
“If a witch hunt does occur, I shall cast the curse of eternal rest upon you without fail.”
If that day ever came, no one would stop her—not even Kalynia. Emily’s expression was grim as she issued her warning.
“It won’t happen. I promise you, sister-in-law,” Vylon replied confidently.
Keeping promises was a royal family’s creed, and he had never broken it.

When Kalynia entered the bedroom, Vylon was lying in bed waiting for her, grinning in delight.
Kalynia shot him a sharp glare and sat at the edge of the bed with her back to him.
“Kalynia.”
She didn’t respond. She still hadn’t forgiven him for pretending to be dead—or rather, pretending to be cursed—and deceiving her.
“Why is my dear wife so upset?”
“Do you really have to ask?”
She shot him a fierce look over her shoulder, and Vylon quickly apologized, claiming he had no choice but to act that way to dissuade her fearsome sisters.
She understood that Emily was terrifying and had likely acted irrationally. There were precedents, after all. But what angered her was that he had enjoyed the test.
“You could have woken up after the first kiss.”
“So you’re mad that I delayed?”
“While I was sobbing and panicking, you were probably laughing at me for being a foolish witch.”
“Oh, that’s not it.”
Vylon wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her toward him. He buried his nose in her neck, making a kissing sound as he tried to placate her.
“You were so endearing that I forgot I was supposed to wake up.”
“…I was actually worried, thinking that maybe you didn’t wake up because I was a witch, not a princess.”
She was being sincere, but Vylon laughed, saying her worries had been unnecessary.
That wasn’t meant to be funny. For the first time in her life, she had felt despair over being a witch. Kalynia, overcome with frustration, tried to remove his arm from her waist.
Vylon, however, pulled her closer, pinning her down. He leaned over her.
“I’m serious, Kalynia. I would’ve woken up as soon as you kissed me. The only reason I didn’t was because you said you loved me.”
He took her hand and placed it on his chest.
“I’ll never make you worry like that again.”
Thump, thump. She could feel his heartbeat through her fingertips.
“I love you, Kalynia.”
“No more sweet talk. No matter what you say, even if you tell me you love me a hundred times, I won’t let this go.”
“That’s okay. The words you said to me today are already engraved in my memory. I’ll live on that.”
Vylon pressed a kiss to the back of her hand resting on his chest.
Kalynia glanced at his lower body. Though he was wearing pants, it seemed like he was already halfway aroused.
“Are you planning to…?”
“If you permit it.”
Without much hesitation, Kalynia closed her eyes. She heard him chuckle softly before he placed a kiss on her forehead.
With practiced hands, Vylon removed her clothes, and soon her petite chest was exposed to his gaze. He slowly ran his hands over her chest and n*****s, savoring the sight.
Recalling their first time, he felt a strange sensation. Back then, he hadn’t thought to enjoy it like this. His eyes had been clouded by betrayal, and he hadn’t realized his true feelings for her.
From the first moment they met, he had been drawn to her. He couldn’t take his eyes off her and had ultimately chased after her, as if drawn by fate.
“I love you, Kalynia. Please let me love you.”
Now that he had someone he could love as much as he wanted, how could he ever let her go? Her family was now bound to this kingdom. She had nowhere else to leave him for.
There was just one remaining task—finding a way to break the promise he’d made to her… Ultimately, keeping her without children for life seemed like the best solution.
“Vylon, I have something to tell you.”
He wondered how he might manage to deceive her yet again. Kalynia pursed her lips and said,
“I haven’t eaten today.”
Did she want to eat before they continued?
