Mr. Kadan in the Deep Forest - Chapter 44
“Mr. Ka, Kadan… “
It was Kadan. She was certain of it. But he wasn’t wearing the old shirt and pants of a forest keeper. Instead, he was dressed in the elaborate battle attire of the Inut tribe. The foreign language he spoke also felt unfamiliar.
‘Is this a dream? Or is it an illusion?’
The unexpected situation left her confused. Her thoughts stopped, and her heart raced. A ringing sound echoed in her ears, and all she could see was his face, vividly imprinted in her mind.
『Ah, I forgot you couldn’t understand Inut.』
Kadan slowly bent one knee. Even though he made it easier for Luna to look up at him, she still had to tilt her head to see the large prince.
She moved her lips soundlessly as she looked at him. Hello, Kadan. The greeting she’d practiced hundreds of times stuck in her throat. But Kadan spoke first.
“How about the baby?”
This time, he used the common language. Strangely, his speech wasn’t clumsy like before—somehow, he’d become as fluent as Luna.
As the prince switched to the common language, the Inut soldiers exchanged uneasy glances, unable to hide their surprise.
The Inut people were known for their strong adherence to their own culture and language. The prince’s use of the common tongue was unusual for one of his kind, and Luna was the only one who appreciated it.
“The… baby?”
The abrupt mention left Luna wide-eyed. She couldn’t grasp his meaning.
“Yes. The baby.”
Kadan emphasized the word again and reached out his arm toward Luna. Luna flinched, her shoulders trembling as she quickly closed her eyes. Soon, his palm rested on her lower abdomen. He gently caressed her flat belly, counting the days with his fingers.
“Your belly should have been this big by now. But… there’s nothing. No baby.”
Kadan gestured just a hand’s width from her belly and frowned slightly.
He was talking about pregnancy. Her cheeks burned as she realized it late. Luna bit her lower lip and looked away.
“I… I’ve never been pregnant, Mr. Kadan.”
“That can’t be true.”
Kadan’s reply was absolute. He turned his head as if sifting through memories, His perfect nose created a beautiful profile, but the bloodstains on his cheek were chilling.
“No matter how much I think about it, I can’t count them.”
“Huh?”
“The seeds I’ve sown inside your belly.”
His gaze that had been on the space, came back to her. He vividly remembered. What Luna didn’t know: none of their affairs had ended easily once it started. Even when she passed out, he’d never stopped thrusting.
He’d fill her to the brim—from cervix to entrance—until his release dripped down her thighs, only to put himself in again. The cycle repeated until dawn. When she could no longer take another drop, he’d mark her face instead.
That’s why he’d washed her before she woke. If that innocent girl ever realized the state he left her in, she might despise him. Look at her now—just mentioning his seed had her trembling and her lips reddened pitifully. He ached to suck them quiet.
“Well, that doesn’t matter. By the way, Luna.”
Kadan rubbed Luna’s plump lower lip with his thumb. Each time he felt the trembling sensation under his fingers, the pent-up desire he had been suppressing surged violently.
But now was the time to ask the most important question, so he forced himself to hold back.
“Why did you run away?”
“Pardon?”
“Why did you run away from that cabin? With another man, no less.”
“I didn’t run away, Kadan.”
Run away? No, it was more accurate to say she had been caught and dragged off. Luna quickly shook her head. Kadan was clearly misunderstanding something.
“Alright, Luna. I believe you. Your words and actions are absolute truths to me. But…”
Kadan turned his head to the side. Just then, one of the Inut soldiers was dragging Ruth by the nape of his neck, bringing him into the banquet hall.
“I don’t trust other men.”
Kadan’s murderous intent shifted toward Ruth. The soldier dropped Ruth onto the floor as if tossing him. Thud! Ruth rolled a couple of times across the marble floor, finally lifting his head while his body remained sprawled on the ground.
“Ka-Kadan… Sir?”
Ruth instinctively added a title. With his sharp intuition, he quickly deduced his situation just by observing Kadan’s clothes. He even knew why Kadan was glaring at him with such intensity.
“P-Please spare me, Kadan Sir! It’s not what you think! It’s not!”
Ruth pleaded for his life, reducing the misunderstanding to the ‘that’.He begged desperately, thinking of their past friendship.
But Kadan’s reaction remained cold. He didn’t like Ruth’s appearance, his tone, or even the fact that he was desperately pleading with his two hands. Especially that shell of a person.
It was clear how comfortably he had been living off Luna’s side—slick as a weasel, with a carefree, debauched look, the kind that would chase after women.
“When you didn’t show up for ten days, I knew you had left. After that, I thought a lot. How much longer should I respect your decision to abandon me and choose Ruth?”
Rising to his knees, Kadan drew a single sword from his waist.
Fresh blood dripped down the blade and fell steadily onto the floor.
