My Child's Father is The Emperor - Chapter 4.1
“Wh-where is this?”
The Emperor sarcastically replied to Adele’s speechlessness.
“Welcome to the Imperial Palace.”
It was an unreal sight.
Adele found herself in the middle of a dense forest. It was definitely a forest, but beyond it, the surroundings were enclosed by neatly piled stone walls from all directions.
However, those stone walls seemed very, very far away.
When she turned around, she saw a castle.
“Wow!”
Leo exclaimed in admiration from Adele’s arms.
The Dreyfus Castle was a fairly large and influential Lord’s castle.
However, the entire Dreyfus Castle seemed to be only about the size of a corner of the Imperial Castle.
Adele was dumbfounded by the immense scale.
“You have no fear.”
Adele, who had been overwhelmed for a moment, returned to reality with the Emperor’s voice.
She clutched her son in her arms.
“Mommy! I can’t breathe.”
Leo squirmed in her tight embrace.
The Emperor took Leo from Adele’s arms and gently placed him on the ground.
When their eyes met, Adele trembled with fear.
‘It can’t be.’
Even her tongue froze, facing the Emperor’s cold gaze.
Leo let out an innocent wah-ah sound and ran toward the palace.
Watching his figure with a sidelong glance, tears welled up in Adele’s eyes.
‘I can’t stop him from taking the child.’
Adele blamed herself.
She hadn’t fallen asleep so defenselessly.
She had been so exhausted that she had only intended to catch a few moments of sleep, but who could have imagined being dragged into the palace in the entire cart.
They were already within the Emperor’s domain.
“You asked what I was doing while you were carrying the child.”
‘When did I? What did I ask?’
There was no way she could have asked something so tenderly to that terrifying man.
Suddenly, a memory flashed in her mind.
“He’s my child! I carried him in my womb for ten months! What were you doing all this time?”
Adele’s breath caught.
‘Is he really going to bring that up now?’
It was an unparalleled insult to the Emperor.
She couldn’t respond even if her throat were to be cut right now.
Adele lowered her head, trembling.
“I walked on the land where blood flows.”
Adele’s eyes widened as she looked at the ground.
“I walked, stepping on endless death.”
Adele felt his gaze, piercing through her bowed head.
“Did that answer your question?”
If she lifted her head to look at him now, she felt like she would turn to stone, like she had seen the legendary Medusa herself.
‘So, he means to kill me too.’
Adele trembled with unbearable fear.
“Take her away.”
As the Emperor turned away, the knights approached and seized Adele.
Leo, who had somehow run far away and was barely visible, was now hidden behind the Emperor, who followed closely after.
“No, no. Leo! Leo!”
Adele writhed in despair, shedding tears.
“Let go of me! Leo!”
When the Emperor disappeared, one of the knights restraining Adele struck her belly with his fist.
Adele opened her eyes wide.
‘No….’
Adele fainted on the spot.
