My Child's Father is The Emperor - Chapter 6.2
She spent the next few days catching up on work done half-heartedly.
Today, he brought Leo to his office.
Leo looked around the Emperor’s office with a twinkle in his eye.
Adele was called to join them, but she didn’t come, claiming she wasn’t feeling well.
‘Is she really not well?’
There’s no reason she shouldn’t be here with Leo.
Leo was curious about everything in the office, but quickly lost interest and sat on the floor doing origami.
Van smiled wryly at the sight of him.
“Leopold.”
“Yes, Dad.”
Focused on what he was making, Leo didn’t look up from his work and spoke dryly.
“You’re the only one who can treat me like that.”
Actually, there was one more.
Leo fiddled with his tiny fingers as if he didn’t understand.
‘Is that how small he is?”
Ban regretted the days he couldn’t see Leo.
The previous benevolent Emperor fell into lust and drained the national treasury.
Outwardly, he appeared gentle, generously giving to the citizens of the empire.
However, unlike public opinion, the state of the border, which did not receive proper support, was in disarray.
Van spent almost three years out of the past four on the battlefield. The remaining one year was spent fetching rotten water and stagnant water.
The only time he saw Adele and Leo was briefly when he returned from one war.
Every few months or half a year, seeing how much Leo had grown in that short time, Van felt both moved and regretful.
Even if the precious child is sitting on the office floor, scribbling on paper trash, how can it not be delightful to look at?
“Dad! This is a gift.”
Leo, who had been fidgeting for a while, brought something like a donut with a hole in the middle.
“What is this?”
“A crown!”
With that, Van immediately took off his headgear.
Leo clapped his hands in glee as he placed the piece of paper like bread dough on Van’s head.
Van was mesmerized by his young son’s antics.
Leo’s giggling face reminded her of Adele’s tearful face.
“Haaaa.”
He sighed, and Leo looked up, his eyes wide.
“Leo, I think it’s time to go to lunch.”
“Yep. Bye, Dad!”
Leo waved as he ran to the servant’s hand.
“See you again, Dad!”
Leo only put the “yo” in things he wanted to do, things he wanted to ask for.
How clever of him.
“And Adele?”
“Ms. Ernst hasn’t come out of her room.”
I half put down the pen in my hand.
When he inquired about Adele’s condition, who had not come with Leo, the servant stammered.
“Didn’t she tell you she wasn’t feeling well?”
“Yes. It is…… said that she has not eaten for three days, and that she collapsed this morning.”
“What? Why are you telling me this now?”
Van approached the servant.
Those who knew the fiery temperament of the Emperor trembled.
“Leave. You’re dismissed from the palace.”
The servant quickly retreated out of the office, massaging his intact neck.
Van turned to the other servant, who was halfway to the doorway.
“What is your name?”
“Yes, Your Majesty, my name is Dawson.”
“How many years have you been working in the palace?”
“T-three years, Your Majesty.”
“Good.”
He was the one who came in after Van’s replaced the previous emperor.
“Do you know what mistake the servant made just now?”
Dohnson vigorously nodded his head.
“You are the successor of the one who was just dismissed. Don’t make the same mistake.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Dohnson was quickly promoted to the Emperor’s servant.
Van headed straight for Adele’s chambers.
‘Fainting.’
Adele had seemed gaunt these last few days. Van chalked it up to her cold imprisonment.
In Adele’s room, a confrontation was taking place.
“Miss Ernst, this could be a big problem.”
“…”
“Not eating is making you dizzy. You need to eat. It won’t be cured by medicine.”
She was originally slender and petite. Adele, who had not eaten for three days, looked pale.
“Leave.”
Upon Van’s command, everyone disappeared from the room.
“Do you plan to starve yourself to death?”
Adele didn’t respond, and Van was frustrated. The eyes that were once filled with determination now looked glassy.
“Why are you doing this?”
Adele didn’t look at him, her gaze fixed somewhere in the empty space in front of her.
“Let me and Leo out of the palace.”
