My Contract Husband Resembles the Male Protagonist - Chapter 61
“Is there someone who looks like me over there?”
“Samuel Lockhart… yes, he is there.”
I didn’t mean to imply that much, but Dale’s memory must be sharp if he immediately recalled Samuel’s name.
He hid me in an alley and peered out. Then he hurriedly pulled up his hood.
‘Why is Dale doing that?’
I wondered, but at that moment, Dale crouched down.
“It seems they’re just passing by. If we wait a bit, it should be fine.”
Then, a warm embrace enveloped me.
It felt odd, being held so closely in his hot, broad chest.
The combination of his hard arms, unexpectedly soft chest, and pleasant scent made my heart race.
I leaned my head against him and snuggled in, watching Dale as he seriously scanned the street.
“..…!”
“Let me know when they’re gone. My legs are tired, so I’ll just lean on you for a bit.”
“…Alright.”
Dale nodded with a small cough.
* * *
“Captain, did you find something?”
“Did you see my sister just now?”
“Are you referring to Lady Lockhart?”
About five meters away, a young man with silver hair and blue eyes spoke.
He was the captain leading the Second Order of Knights.
He was often said to be the spitting image of the former Marquis Lockhart in his prime.
That man was Samuel Lockhart, the eldest son of the Lockhart family.
Today, the Second Order was patrolling the central part of the capital, and Samuel thought he saw a familiar face.
“There was a woman who looked like my sister.”
Samuel wouldn’t have mistaken Enya’s apparition; he didn’t think of her that often.
Clad in his knightly uniform, he strode quickly.
“Everyone, stay here.”
“Captain? Where are you going!”
“I couldn’t have been mistaken.”
Samuel’s eyes gleamed with certainty. He immediately ran toward the alley.
“She was definitely there. Enya Lockhart.”
Three years had passed, but after living together for over a decade, he could recognize her.
Unless it was a ghost, it was undoubtedly Enya’s face.
With certainty, Samuel headed towards the spot he had been watching.
“Could it really be her?”
His pace quickened.
She was his infuriating younger sister who had vanished overnight, abandoning the entire family.
Even a calf scalded on the backside wouldn’t thrash about or go on a rampage like she did.
The disappearance of Lady Lockhart had been a significant event. The only certainty was that it wasn’t an abduction but a voluntary disappearance.
No one knew when or if she would return.
“She was in the capital all along?”
A frown creased Samuel’s forehead.
“Enya Lockhart!”
Thud!
As he rounded the corner of the building, Samuel’s eyes widened.
Where he was certain she had been, there was no one.
“…Strange.”
He looked around.
There were only ordinary people and a peculiar couple embracing in the alley.
‘Could it be…?’
Samuel stared at the couple.
‘That woman has brown hair.’
Enya had the same bright silver hair as his own, a radiant silver that resembled their father in his youth.
That woman couldn’t be Enya.
To a conservative knight, the sight of a couple embracing was quite shocking. But since it wasn’t his sister, it wasn’t his concern.
Samuel observed the man. He was rather large, arguably one of the biggest men Samuel had ever seen.
He briefly wondered if the man might be a knight or if he should consider recruiting him to the knighthood.
“Captain!”
“Mulder.”
“We need to head back to the palace. Even if we leave now, we’ll barely make it back in time for the evening roll call.”
“…Alright.”
Samuel glanced at the man’s back one last time with a hint of regret before turning away.
“It can’t be helped.”
