My Perfect Omega - Chapter 104
Feeling the rising heat, Lucas undid a few buttons of his shirt. As he entered his rut, an overwhelming amount of pheromones emanated from him. Normally, betas were unaffected by an alpha’s pheromones, but in such a vast quantity, even betas couldn’t remain unaffected.
Despite having all the windows open, the pheromones filling his office showed no sign of dissipating. Fully aware of the situation, Lucas stamped the last document and handed it to Philip.
“Let’s call it a day. Here’s a bonus for today and the upcoming week.”
Lucas retrieved a pouch of gold coins from his desk drawer and handed it to Philip.
“No need for this, really.”
Lucas chuckled at Philip’s delighted expression, then gathered his jacket and left the office. Though it was taxing, he could still manage. He walked towards Leila’s room, but for the first time, he found himself running through the mansion. This unusual behavior from him left the household staff wide-eyed in surprise.
Not even trying to hide his footsteps, he quickly reached her room and flung the door open.
“Leila?”
He found it odd not to see Leila sitting on the sofa in the usual spot in the reception room. He moved further inside, opening the door to the bedroom, but she wasn’t there either.
“Leila?”
From the moment he opened the door, he hadn’t felt Leila’s pheromones, instinctively sensing she was… gone.
Yet, he still checked the dressing room, his private study attached to the room, and even the bathroom, but she was nowhere to be found.
Realizing something was amiss, he rang the silver bell to summon Oliver and Emma, hoping they might have taken her on a walk.
Despite telling himself this, he glanced out the now darkening window, biting his lip.
“You called for us?”
Oliver and Emma arrived quickly, slightly out of breath. Lucas examined their faces. They seemed unaware that Leila wasn’t in the mansion.
“…You didn’t know Leila wasn’t here either.”
Lucas’s quiet statement widened their eyes in shock.
“The young lady isn’t here?”
“Oh no, where could she have gone? It’s already dark.”
Emma recalled something Leila had said earlier.
“Earlier, the young lady mentioned she would have dinner with you when you returned tonight. We took a walk in the afternoon and had tea in the garden afterward. I thought she was just tired…”
Lucas felt a brief pang of confusion. He distinctly remembered telling her before going to his office that he would be late for dinner due to his rut. Despite the haze of his rut, his expression turned cold as he gathered his thoughts and spoke seriously.
“Tell Max to search the entire duchy estate immediately.”
“Yes, sir!”
Oliver hurried out, and Emma, her face full of concern, turned to Lucas.
“I’ll gather the maids and ask if anyone has seen the young lady.”
“Yes, please do.”
“She enjoyed the garden earlier. She might have gone out with another maid.”
Emma tried to reassure Lucas before leaving. Lucas’s command put the entire household on high alert, responding swiftly. Max and the knights began searching the area, Emma questioned the maids, and the butler gathered the servants to search inside the mansion.
Having mobilized his subordinates, Lucas called for the doctor to get a suppressant. Though it was late, he received the medication and waited an hour for it to take effect. Despite this, there was still no news of Leila’s whereabouts. He had no choice but to conclude the worst.
Summoning his subordinates, Lucas’s violet eyes darkened as he declared,
“My omega has been kidnapped.”
