My Perfect Omega - Chapter 133
“Father, why did you summon me so urgently today?”
The Emperor responded to the Crown Prince’s question with a voice full of anticipation.
“Who else in the Camorr Empire could call you, me, and His Holiness together?”
“…Could it be Lus who summoned us?”
“Be careful using that nickname in front of the Duke. He’s been unusually sensitive about even the smallest things lately.”
“What’s wrong with calling him Lus? He’s practically my younger brother.”
“Yes, that’s true. But be cautious nonetheless.”
“Understood.”
The Crown Prince, who had been sitting nonchalantly, changed his expression immediately at the mention of meeting Lucas. He felt a bit hurt recalling how his younger cousin—who he thought of as a brother—had ignored invitations to meet lately, having found his omega. However, he still felt affection for him— after all, siblings remain dear despite their whims.
“I should have worn the new outfit I had tailored if I’d known this was going to happen. Why didn’t you give me prior notice, Father?”
“Because I can’t stand your fussing.”
The Pope, who had been quietly listening to the father and son, smiled kindly and intervened.
“Your Highness, the Crown Prince, you shine brightly enough as you are.”
“Your Holiness, I know that to your eyes even a passing beggar appears beautiful. Not to disparage beggars, of course, but you see inner beauty first, do you not?”
“Which is why I am proud to be a citizen of the Camorr Empire before being a pope.”
“Haha, your words always bring me such joy, Your Holiness.”
As the three continued their pleasant conversation, the doorkeeper announced.
“The Duke of Bavenberg has arrived!”
“Oh, he’s finally here.”
At the Emperor’s murmur, the Crown Prince sprang to his feet and ran toward the opening door to greet Lucas.
“Lus, you rascal!”
The Crown Prince’s fierce affection for his youngest cousin was more terrifying than the Emperor’s love for his nephew, but to Lucas, it was not pleasant. As Lucas was pulled into a tight embrace, his handsome face twisted in discomfort at the strong alpha scent.
“How long has it been! Didn’t you miss this brother of yours?”
“…Your Highness, how many times must I ask you to maintain decorum?”
“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do that. But why did you call us here so suddenly?”
“Well, that is…”
As Lucas tried to respond while awkwardly caught by the Crown Prince, the Emperor shouted.
“Crown Prince! What kind of behavior is this? Don’t forget His Holiness is waiting as well!”
“Ah, I lose my senses whenever I see our Lus. Please understand, Your Holiness.”
“Haha, truly a display of brotherly love. There’s no doubt that God loves the Camorr Empire.”
Seated in front of the ornately set tea table in the elegant room, Lucas couldn’t hide his frustration. The reason he had gathered the three people he usually preferred to meet separately was simple—to handle matters efficiently and quickly return to Leila.
“I apologize for the impudence, but I asked you to gather because I have something important to tell you.”
The Emperor, Crown Prince, and Pope all showed concern at Lucas’s serious tone.
“So then…”
Just as Lucas was about to speak, the Pope, who rarely interrupted others, spoke first, surprising both the Emperor and the Crown Prince.
“Lady Leila might find it uncomfortable. Staying in the house of an unrelated man for a long time wouldn’t have been an easy decision. However, it would be best to hold the wedding in spring. God has also given his blessing.”
“Your Holiness, how can you say she’s unrelated to me? How could I be considered a stranger to Leila?”
“Legally speaking, you are indeed unrelated at the moment.”
Lucas was hurt, especially because it was the Pope who said it. Moreover, the Pope wasn’t wrong, leaving Lucas unable to argue. Seeing Lucas’s lips move wordlessly, the Crown Prince spoke up.
“Marriage partners can become strangers easily, which is why it’s crucial to respect and cherish each other even more.”
