My Perfect Omega - Chapter 136
Recalling Leila’s advice, Lucas decided to try something different instead of his usual farewell. He hoped that if she heard this new phrase, she might think he sounded younger.
“I’ll be off now!”
Determined to only meet with young nobles closer to his age from now on, Lucas left the reception room, leaving behind three bewildered faces.
Walking with proper decorum at first, he soon quickened his pace as he thought of Leila. Regardless of their spat, he missed her dearly.

After Lucas had gone out, Leila tried to take a nap alone in her room. Recently, she felt like she spent more time sleeping than awake.
“Ugh…”
But today, sleep eluded her.
“Is my pillow too low?”
Lately, she had been napping mostly beside Lucas, or more precisely, resting her head on his thigh while he sat on the sofa. Perhaps the unfamiliarity of a pillow after so long made it uncomfortable.
Tossing and turning, Leila found herself more awake and had no choice but to get up.
“I guess I’ll nap on the sofa.”
She wished the drowsiness would either completely dissipate or allow her to sleep, but she felt caught in between, still tired.
She left the bedroom and moved to her personal reception room. Lying on the familiar sofa, she used a cushion instead, one that matched the height of Lucas’s thigh. She felt more satisfied and closed her eyes, yet still couldn’t fall asleep.
“…Why?”
Unable to figure out the reason, Leila worried that something might be wrong with the baby. Pacing nervously, she glanced out the window repeatedly.
“I should have asked when he’d be back.”
Since two days ago, Lucas had been leaving without waiting for her to see him off, making her feel uneasy.
“I don’t understand why he’s upset…”
He seemed angry, but she couldn’t pinpoint the reason.
“I’ll ask him when he gets back.”
Deciding she couldn’t let this continue indefinitely, Leila resolved to bring it up. She suddenly realized she was already in the hallway.
“…Well, since I’m up, I might as well go downstairs.”
“Ah, my lady! No, Madam!”
Anna, who was coming up the stairs, was surprised to see Leila descending alone. She hadn’t seen much of Leila since the pregnancy, as both she and Lucas had been preoccupied with each other.
“Ah, is the master out? Is that why you’re coming down?”
“Yes, I just felt a bit cooped up…”
“You two are so close!”
Anna hurried up to support Leila, who smiled slightly at her actions.
“There’s no need for that anymore, Anna.”
Seeing Anna’s continued care made Leila feel touched. Previously indifferent, she now found herself easily moved by small acts of kindness.
“I know, but you must be careful while pregnant. Please let me help you for a while longer.”
“…Thank you, Anna.”
“Oh, you’re too kind.”
Chatting with Anna, Leila soon reached the lobby just in time to see Lucas alighting from his carriage.
“Lucas!”
At last, the uneasy feeling in her chest settled. Relieved by his approaching pheromones, she hurried toward him.
Lucas hadn’t expected to see her in the lobby, and his previously sullen face brightened.
“Why are you out here…?”
He instinctively began to ask why she was out, then corrected himself.
“I came down for some reason…”
Leila realized why she hadn’t been able to nap. It wasn’t the peaceful mansion that made her feel secure but Lucas’s presence. She took his hand and smiled brightly.
“I came down because I missed you.”
Still feeling a bit sulky over the criticism of his manner of speaking, Lucas couldn’t help but feel his heart melt at her words.
“…So what if I sound like an old man.”
“Excuse me?”
It didn’t matter how she saw him as long as there was love in her heart.
“Never mind… The wind is strong, let’s go inside.”
“…Yes, alright.”
Though his awkward phrasing was odd, Leila smiled, holding Lucas’s hand tightly as they walked inside. Anna watched them with a deeply satisfied expression.
