My Perfect Omega - Chapter 140
“What are you talking about, Leila?”
“Think about Philip and the aides suffering day and night because you won’t stamp those documents. As the lady of Bavenberg, I must make a decision.”
Leila’s stern demeanor scared Lucas, but the phrase “Lady of Bavenberg” pleased him so much that he couldn’t help but smile. However, his face turned pale at her next words.
“If you can’t handle more work, then our wedding will have to be postponed until next year. Spring has barely arrived, but there’s no other choice.”
“No, that can’t happen!”
“Why not?”
Her sharp gaze left him speechless. They had finally managed to arrange their wedding, and missing this opportunity could lead to the emperor and the pope setting another inconvenient date.
Besides, they were already clamoring to see Rosalie, and might use this chance to hold Leila and Rosalie at the palace.
“I promise!”
“What exactly are you promising?”
“I swear I will finish all my delayed work before the wedding!”
“Hmm, I’ll give you one last chance then.”
“Who else but you would believe in me?”
“Alright.”
With a demure reply, Leila left the office with Rosalie. Philip quietly gave her a thumbs-up, acknowledging her success in persuading Lucas. Leila responded with a silent smile as she headed down the stairs.
“Our madam is the best.”
What he had been unable to achieve through pleas was resolved instantly. Philip decided to pledge even greater loyalty to her from now on.

When the flowers heralding spring were in full bloom, the much-anticipated wedding of Duke Bavenberg and Lady Este took place in the grand hall of the imperial palace, a venue reserved only for royalty.
Nobles from the capital and lords from various regions came to witness this historic event. Among them, Jonas, who had arrived early and waited anxiously, was guided to the bridal room by Anna.
“Uncle.”
“Leila.”
Seeing how much she had matured, Jonas was struck by her resemblance to his late sister, making him feel a pang of nostalgia.
“I can’t believe how much you look alike.”
Leila responded with a gentle smile.
“But where is Rosalie?”
Jonas, who was as eager to see Rosalie as he was to see Leila, couldn’t hide his disappointment when he didn’t see the child in the bridal room.
“Well…”
Leila began, looking a bit troubled.
“His Majesty took her…”
The emperor had taken her so suddenly that she couldn’t stop him. At the mention of the emperor, Jonas quickly gave up and looked fondly at Leila.
“You look beautiful.”
“Thank you, Uncle.”
“Madam, it’s time to go.”
“Yes, alright.”
At Anna’s prompting, Jonas extended his hand to Leila. As her guardian, it was his duty to escort her to the altar. Leila placed her gloved hand in his and smiled warmly, feeling reassured by his steady grip. Jonas spoke to her seriously.
“If the Duke ever troubles you, just bring Rosalie and come back to our family. I’ll take care of you both.”
His words, as dependable as his hand, made Leila smile brightly.
“Alright, I will.”
Though she doubted it would ever come to that.
They talked briefly about her late mother as they walked, and before long, they arrived at the entrance of the hall where Lucas waited. Dressed all in white like her, he looked like a descended angel, stunning and captivating.
“Thank you.”
Lucas took Leila’s hand from Jonas, expressing his gratitude. Jonas bowed slightly and spoke firmly.
“Please make my niece happy.”
“You didn’t need to say that—it’s a given.”
Taking her uncle’s concern as jealousy, Lucas only relaxed when Leila’s hand was securely in his. They both looked towards where the pope was waiting.
The colorful light streaming through the stained glass above reminded Lucas of the prayer room where he once brought her.
“Leila.”
He called her before stepping onto the wedding path. When she turned to look at him, slightly nervous, he smiled happily and whispered.
“I promise to love you evermore.”
At his most trustworthy promise, Leila also smiled brightly and responded.
“I, too, will love you until the end of time .”
As soon as their exchange ended, the musicians began to play. With the soft melodies, the couple took their first step together. It was a new beginning and the culmination of their long journey to be together.
