My Perfect Omega - Chapter 147
“Madam, are you really not going to take me with you?”
On the morning of their departure to the villa where her in-laws lived, Anna, who was packing Leila’s luggage, asked in a voice full of disappointment. Leila, still groggy from sleep, was sitting on the sofa drinking water and answered softly.
“Why would you refuse a vacation?”
“A vacation is a vacation. I’m worried about sending you off alone!”
Despite her grumbling, the ever-diligent Anna continued packing. Leila looked at Anna and said,
“I’m not alone. Lucas is going with me.”
“…That’s true, but still.”
Leila spoke to Anna with a compassionate face.
“You no longer need to worry. Besides, what happened to me wasn’t your fault, so why are you still so tied up over it?”
She knew Anna still hadn’t forgotten that incident. It was her own decision to send Anna to her uncle’s house, and it was also her own doing that she provoked her stepmother and got poisoned.
“There’s nothing wrong with being cautious. It’s just about being prepared in advance.”
“No, it’s not good to be full of worries. I know because I’ve been there.”
“Madam…”
“People are more easily consumed by mental pain than by physical limitations. Moreover, when the mind breaks, the body becomes weaker than paper.”
Leila was aware that someone special had recently come into Anna’s life. Though not openly discussed, love and sneezes cannot be hidden.
“Was it Sir Evan?”
“Yes?”
“It seems he was given a vacation as well…”
“Yes?”
Pointing a finger at the now blushing Anna, Leila continued.
“There might not be another chance like this. Everyone else was happy to get a vacation, so I don’t understand why you’re unhappy about it. Do you really want to go with me?”
Anna displayed a moment of confusion but quickly looked serious and seemed ready to nod decisively, but Leila was quicker.
“Oh, you stubborn girl! Go out and have a date with Sir Evan, Anna! Stop sneaking around the estate!”
Rumors are usually known to everyone but the involved parties. Leila laughed and teased Anna, whose face had turned bright red.
“Y-You knew? How…!”
“That’s a secret.”
If she told Anna that everyone in the estate except them knew, the sometimes overly dramatic Anna might be too embarrassed to go on a date with Sir Evan. Leila felt the urge to reveal it but held back.
“Here, this is a special bonus. Use it on your date.”
Leila handed over a pouch of gold coins with a mischievous smile. Anna, now red up to her neck, shyly took it. It was hard to believe she was the same brisk Anna from just moments ago.
Leila chuckled quietly and finished her water.

With all the preparations completed, Leila was escorted to the carriage by Lucas. They took their time traveling leisurely. Sitting together in the plush carriage, they read books and kissed for long stretches.
Whenever they came across a beautiful view, they stopped the carriage to admire it. Just the act of traveling made them feel like they were on a journey, and they enjoyed some intimate time together, temporarily forgetting about Rosalie.
Having sent word ahead, the mansion’s gates opened automatically as their carriage approached. The horses trotted cheerfully up to the entrance of the mansion and stopped.
“Lucas, Leila.”
The former Duke and Duchess, standing at the entrance, called out warmly as they approached. Lucas, who had alighted first, offered his hand to escort his wife down. By then, Roan and Sophia had come closer, smiling brightly in welcome.
“It must have been a tiring journey.”
“Welcome.”
“Father, Mother. It’s been a while.”
Roan and Sophia looked at their daughter-in-law, Leila, with eyes full of affection as she greeted them formally.
