My Perfect Omega - Chapter 148
At first, Leila had thought that Roan and Sophia wouldn’t favor her. She believed that they had allowed the marriage only because she had borne a child.
Contrary to her belief, Roan and Sophia considered Leila a blessing. They were grateful to her for turning their self-centered son into someone more considerate. Moreover, she had given them a granddaughter whom they adored.
“See, Leila. My parents are doing just fine,” Lucas remarked coolly, to which Sophia responded with a snort.
“So, is there something you’re dissatisfied with?”
“Please write to us sometimes, telling us you’re well. It will reassure my wife.”
“Why would I write when I can see my daughter-in-law’s face like this? People need a bit of mystery to ensure they visit in person,” Sophia replied, causing Lucas to shake his head in exasperation.
He knew his parents were doing well. Since his childhood, they had always prioritized their relationship over their child.
They weren’t uninterested in their child, but their bond was unbreakable. After meeting Leila, he understood this was because they were an alpha and an omega. He had never wanted to be apart from Leila since meeting her, but Rosalie was too precious for him to leave behind.
“Come here, dear, let me give you a hug,” Roan said, and Leila approached shyly.
She was receiving from her in-laws the affection she had never gotten from her own parents.
“Father, no matter how close she is, you shouldn’t touch someone else’s omega so casually,” Lucas protested as his father gave Leila a light hug, prompting Sophia to sigh.
“How can you be so much like your father?”
After the brief hug, Roan returned to Sophia’s side and added,
“I said the same thing to my father.”
He chuckled at the memory of his son saying the same words.
“Yes, I miss your late father,” Sophia said nostalgically, and Roan wrapped his arm around her shoulders, gently patting her.
“Let’s not stand here, please come inside,” the butler waiting nearby suggested cautiously.
“Oh, yes. We’ve prepared lunch to coincide with your arrival. But first, would you like to change clothes?” Sophia asked.
“No, Mother. We traveled very comfortably. As long as our attire isn’t inappropriate, we’d like to join you for the meal right away,” Leila replied.
“We’re family, there’s no need for formalities. You get enough of that in the capital,” Sophia said, patting Leila’s hand.
With Sophia and Leila walking side by side, Lucas and Roan joined their respective partners, making the butler and all the staff smile at the heartwarming scene.
Starting with lunch, through teatime, and onto dinner, the four of them enjoyed a long-awaited reunion. It was only after the sun had completely set that Lucas and Leila retreated to their guest room and changed into comfortable clothes.
“Did you drink a lot of wine?”
“Huh? No?”
Although she had drunk more than usual because she was in a good mood, it wasn’t too much. At her response, Lucas extended his hand and said,
“The end of the garden overlooks a cliff. We can’t see much at night, but would you like to go look at the sea?”
“Sure.”
She quickly took his hand. The two strolled through the garden, enjoying the cool night breeze. Lucas, holding his wife’s hand tightly, grumbled as they walked slowly.
“People might think you’re a daughter of the Bavenberg family. Most women find their in-laws intimidating. Don’t you?”
Leila looked up at him, noticing his slightly pouty lips. It seemed something was bothering him.
