My Perfect Omega - Chapter 159
Just as Lucas arrived home, he received a message saying that Rosalie was crying and calling for them. He immediately got ready to leave alone. Considering the intense heat cycle they had just gone through, it was highly likely that she had conceived. Not wanting to see his wife overexert herself, he quietly left while she was still asleep.
He rode without rest and arrived much faster than usual. Upon arrival, he stormed into the palace with a fierce expression. As he reached the place he was guided to, he heard Rosalie’s crying.
Alarmed, Lucas quickly rushed inside.
Rosalie was a child who rarely cried, but once she started, it was hard to get her to stop. Her crying was a major event at home as well.
“My Rose!”
“Daddy!”
As soon as he entered, Rosalie ran to him. He easily lifted her with one hand and quickly wiped her tears, comforting her.
“You missed Mommy and Daddy a lot, didn’t you? It’s okay now, Daddy’s here.”
“Hic, waaah!”
Seeing his daughter sobbing broke Lucas’s heart. He sharply turned his head, glaring. The three people who had been trying to comfort Rosalie simultaneously flinched.
“Your Majesty, your greed has resulted in my daughter’s tears. If you abuse your power for personal reasons again, I will not stand by.”
“That’s not…”
“What do you think my mother would say if she found out about this? She asked about Rose when I visited her recently.”
“You went to see my sister?”
“Swear that you will never hold such events again, Your Majesty.”
“Wait, did you see my sister without me? You should have brought her along.”
The Emperor’s attention quickly shifted to his sister. Lucas thought, ‘Isn’t it because you’re so persistently demanding that Mother doesn’t show her face?’ but he kept this thought to himself, knowing it would just cause more trouble.
“Grandma…”
Sophia’s statement not only diverted the Emperor’s attention but also Rosalie’s.
“I miss Grandma too…”
“Grandma said she misses you a lot too. She said she’d come to visit, so why don’t you stop crying now?”
“…Okay.”
The Emperor, Crown Prince, and Imperial Crown Prince looked on with frustration as Rosalie’s tears ceased. They had tried so hard to comfort her to no avail, and it felt unfair.
“But Daddy.”
“Yes?”
“I want…”
Seeing Rosalie hesitate, Lucas looked down at his daughter with a serious expression and said,
“Whatever you want, I can give it to you. So never hesitate to tell Daddy, Rose.”
Encouraged by her supportive father, Rosalie’s face brightened. She whispered with her small mouth moving,
“I want a baby sibling.”
“…Is that why you were crying?”
“Yeah, Zion has one, but I don’t…”
“Zi…on?”
Lucas froze as if struck in the back of the head upon hearing a boy’s name from his daughter’s lips. His beautiful purple eyes quivered.
“Yes! He’s my friend.”
“…Friend?”
“Yes, yes, my dear friend.”
Relieved by the word ‘friend,’ Lucas’s tense expression relaxed into a smile. The Emperor, who had been watching the beautiful father-daughter pair, interjected gruffly.
“How am I supposed to console a child crying because she wants a sibling?”
“You should grant all of Rose’s wishes.”
The Emperor’s face turned sharply at Lucas’s peculiar response, which implied that not all wishes were granted.
“…What do you mean by that, Duke?”
The Emperor, who often grumbled about not being able to call his family members by their titles, now questioned in a commanding voice. Lucas smiled slowly, his expression triumphant.
“I don’t think it’s necessary to share the details of our family planning.”
“What? Aren’t we family too?”
“That’s right, Lucas. I’m curious as well.”
“I’m curious too!”
With the Imperial Crown Prince chiming in, Lucas spoke reluctantly, though his voice was full of pride.
“Rose, you’re going to have a sibling soon.”
At Lucas’s confident tone, the emperor, crown prince, and little prince looked surprised, and even Rosalie stared wide-eyed.
Amidst all this, only Lucas smiled calmly.
“So let’s go home, Rose. Mommy really misses you.”
“Okay!”
