My Perfect Omega - Chapter 19
“I apologize for coming without prior contact.”
At Lucas’s words, Count Benjamin Este responded with an uneasy face.
“Pardon me for the question, why have you come to our house…”
Lucas could somewhat discern Benjamin’s true feelings from his vague response. The atmosphere clearly read that he was displeased but couldn’t show it openly because Lucas was a duke.
“I’ve come to meet the eldest daughter of this house.”
“My eldest daughter?”
“Yes, I have come seeking Miss Leila.”
“Why that child…?”
Benjamin’s curt response made Lucas’s lips twitch slightly upwards. Often, such attitudes were displayed by those who, despite their noble status, foolishly challenged him due to his young age as a duke.
Philip, standing nearby, thought it was probably due to Lucas’s lip shape and the way his lips curled that made him seem to smile oddly, appearing as if he were a good-natured person when he wasn’t showing his true self.
“Am I required to inform you and obtain permission to meet Miss Leila? Does she not have autonomy?”
His voice quickly turned cold, causing Benjamin to involuntarily shudder under the subtly emerging an overbearing alpha aura. Although the pheromones born only to alphas and omegas didn’t largely affect betas, they couldn’t be completely ignored.
“No, that’s not what I mean…”
“Count, until now, you’ve just been oddly trailing off. As the head of a family, shouldn’t you be clear in your communication?”
Benjamin’s lips curled up, but his eyes weren’t smiling as he blankly stared at Lucas and then belatedly responded.
“I-I apologize.”
“Asked to speak clearly, now you start stammering. I’ve heard you run a trading company, and yet…”
The trailed off words carried an implication clear enough without needing to be explicitly stated. Benjamin’s face went red with embarrassment as he started to tremble.
Lucas, indifferent, brought up the main point again.
“So who will guide Miss Leila to me?”
Honestly, even for a duke, it was not proper to visit someone’s family without notice, but Lucas was displeased and acted more arbitrarily.
He hadn’t liked Benjamin’s initial attitude, and the insistent stares of what seemed to be Benjamin’s two other children annoyed him further. Moreover, not even a glimpse of Leila was to be seen, which soured his mood even more.
With how she hadn’t come out to meet a visitor, could it be that she disliked the fact that he had come and was therefore not showing her face?
While all sorts of thoughts crossed his mind, Amelie, who had been watching him, suddenly stepped forward.
“Excuse me, Your Grace.”
“And who might you be?”
“I am Amelie, the second daughter of the Este family. It is truly an honor to meet you.”
“I am Timo, the eldest son of the Este family. It is also an honor and a pleasure to meet you, Your Grace.”
Their gazes were overtly greedy as they looked at him. Lucas was used to receiving such looks, and though they were unpleasant, he simply accepted them.
“Pardon me, but may I offer to guide you?”
“Anyone will do, just guide me there. I do not wish to waste any more time.”
Lucas commanded with an arrogant expression, deeply disliking unnecessary delays. Timo watched him as if he had witnessed something extraordinary.
Lucas was not only perfect in appearance but was also famous for a certain event from his academy days. The legend of him defeating ten opponents at once during a swordsmanship duel was a story that had been passed down to younger students.
Knowing this rumor, Timo felt a sense of closeness simply because Lucas was his senior in school. Guided by Amelie and Timo to the highest floor, Lucas discerned the intentions of those who had assigned the highest floor to a blind person.
Though he had confirmed it through documents, he hadn’t known that the family neglected her to this extent, and he felt a belated sense of regret.
If it were anyone else, he would never have felt this way, but Leila had become special to him in a short amount of time.
“This is my sister’s room.”
Before Amelie could finish speaking, Lucas directed his gaze towards Anna, who was standing at the door. Noticing his gaze, Amelie kindly spoke to Anna.
“Could you tell our dear Sister that her siblings have come?”
