My Perfect Omega - Chapter 20
“…Miss, Duke Bavenberg, the Young Master and the Youngest Miss have come to see you.”
Despite her guidance, there was no answer from inside. Lucas waited for a moment and then slowly tilted his head slightly.
“Sister?”
“Sis!”
When there was no response, the two called out in panic and knocked. Then, a small voice finally came from behind the door.
“Your Grace, I apologize, but I am forbidden from leaving my room.”
“Forbidden, you say…”
“Yes, conversely, my father has also prohibited anyone from entering my room. Would you please leave?”
“Hah…”
Lucas was dumbfounded by her words, telling him to leave without even seeing his face.
“Sister, are you out of your mind?”
Amelie, who had tried to stay close to Lucas and enter his field of vision, exclaimed incredulously. Then, she changed her tone in shock.
“Sister, this isn’t proper etiquette. Our family isn’t without manners. What would we do if you go against Father’s wishes like this?”
Leila scoffed inside the room without anyone knowing. She had let go of many things and would have resigned herself normally, but now she thought differently.
If she didn’t seize the opportunity of Lucas’s visit, she couldn’t guarantee when her confinement would end. It would be troublesome if she continued to be trapped here and got nothing for Anna before an arranged marriage was decided.
“Why are you telling me to go against Father’s wishes? I’m just following his orders to not leave the room and not let anyone in.”
“B, but…”
Amelie couldn’t retort as usual because Leila’s words were not wrong.
Listening quietly by the side, Lucas asked in a voice full of curiosity.
“May I ask the reason for your confinement?”
Before Leila could answer, Amelie intervened.
“Goodness, Father will probably say it’s alright now, won’t he? Sister, he just grounded you because he’s worried about you.”
Then she quickly relayed the message to Lucas,
“As you may know, Sister has an eye disease… No, rather, she is completely blind, so there’s a lot of concern about her going out.”
“Hmm, considering the concern, it strikes me that Miss Leila’s room is too high and secluded.”
At his words, Amelie and Timo involuntarily averted their gaze, feeling a prick of guilt.
Outwardly, it was the third-best room of the mansion, but while knowing full well that it was impossible for her to come down the stairs by herself, they had intentionally made her stay here.
“Originally, this room should be used by the heir. My dear brother gave it up for our elder sister.”
“Of course. That’s just how much I love our eldest sister.”
Upon hearing Timo’s words, Lucas turned his gaze and looked at him. Timo’s appearance was far more agreeable now than when he was causing trouble like a thug in front of a bar, which Lucas found detestable.
Not knowing the true nature of this household, Lucas felt foolish for having been disappointed simply because she hadn’t come out. He pressed his temples with his fingertips before grasping the doorknob.
Before Leila could permit him, he flung the door open and, with a picture-perfect smile, said to Amelie and Timo,
“Isn’t this something the Count could understand too? You can’t keep a guest standing outside forever.”
That was a statement usually expected from the host, but Lucas said it confidently. Despite his arrogance, Amelie and Timo could only nod, their faces flushed.
“Well, I have something to discuss with Miss Leila, so please excuse me.”
With a crisp greeting, he entered Leila’s room. Immediately shutting the door to prevent the others from following, he slowly walked in, staring at the pale Leila.
“It would be nice to sit down and talk for a while.”
“Please feel free to sit on the sofa you see over there. Apologies for not being able to guide you.”
“Very well.”
He quickly sat down on the sofa and watched as Leila, leaning on her cane, carefully approached and sat down. As soon as she was seated, he promptly said,
“I’ve never failed to achieve what I want. I really enjoy your playing. So, I want to listen whenever I feel like it.”
