My Perfect Omega - Chapter 3
Lucas von Bavenberg.
With a name that means holy light, he was a man said to monopolize the love of the gods. And as the empire’s only hyper-dominant alpha, the epithets that describe him could fill an entire novel.
Thus, Lucas, who possessed everything and earned the envy of others, feigned a picturesque smile amidst the discomfort, surrounded by people.
“Duke Bavenberg, would you honor me with a dance?”
At the brave request of the noble lady, the men around cheered, and the women sent wary glances. Lucas, however, showed an awkward expression.
“The Crown Prince is looking for me, so I must excuse myself. Please forgive me for having to decline.”
“Oh, no, I’m sorry for making such an unreasonable request to someone so busy…”
The lady couldn’t hide her disappointment but still showed consideration for Lucas. While other men might have promised another opportunity out of pity, Lucas quietly smiled and slipped away from the crowd.
Philip, his aide, quietly followed him. It wasn’t until they were in the hallway that Philip spoke up.
“Your Grace, continually using the Crown Prince as an excuse might not be the best choice.”
“Ha…”
Philip, who knew his schedule inside out, had noticed long ago. However, Lucas paid no heed to his aide’s nagging. It was a frequent occurrence, after all.
“As a duke, I must use someone of higher status as an excuse, but it wouldn’t be appropriate to mention the Emperor, would it?”
“The Crown Prince should not be an option either, Your Grace.”
“Then, would it have been better to outright refuse?”
Philip had no response to Lucas’s cold remark, knowing all too well why his lord acted this way.
Lucas was weary of being judged solely by his appearance. He despised being viewed as a product by those rotten gazes. It felt like having trash right before his eyes, making him feel disgusted.
Striding away from the banquet hall, he muttered in a voice full of displeasure as he boarded the carriage.
“Sometimes, I’m tempted to gouge out those eyeballs.”
Philip silently watched him, understanding Lucas’s feelings as someone who had observed him for the longest time.
Lucas, with his hair more radiant than gold, neatly swept back, and his noble purple eyes coldly shining, exuded a decadent aura beneath his long, slightly languid eyelashes.
Even with lips tightly closed, their adequate fullness made him appear almost smiling even in expressionlessness, leading people to mistakenly think he was actually kind.
From his sharp jawline to his face, he was as exquisitely beautiful as a delicately cut gem, but his body told a different story. Born as a hyper-dominant alpha, his naturally perfect physique resembled a sculpture, his muscular build beautiful even through his pale skin that contrasted with not being exposed to the sun, visible even under luxurious fabrics.
For someone born with so much and overwhelmingly perfect in appearance, it was more a curse than a blessing. Lucas had been frequently kidnapped as a child, and during his academy days, he always had to deal with the jealousy and envy of his peers.
The burden only increased as time went on. They set their own standards, making Lucas out to be a perfectionist who had to excel in everything. The slightest mistake would cause an uproar in the media, and any word or action deviating from his image was met with disappointment.
Lucas, having lived through such times, grew up to have a twisted disposition of distrust in people, despite his perfect exterior.
“I’d like to stop by that place instead of the mansion.”
“But, Your Grace…”
“Of course, I’ll change my clothes before going.”
“…Understood.”
Lucas had recently been frequenting a bar, a place Philip disapproved of as it was popular with commoners, but he couldn’t outright deny his lord’s orders. It was the only place where Lucas could unwind.
“I hope she’s there today…”
With Philip’s reluctant permission, Lucas leaned back against the seat, looking more relaxed. For the past few months, he had been captivated by a performer. The beautiful melodies, ill-suited for the shabby bar, had caught his ear by chance.
